KNBSB Honorary Member, former umpire and committee-member Dick van Meerkerk passed away

Dick van Meerkerk, who has been a longtime member of the Accomodations Committee of the Royal Netherlands Baseball and Softball Federation (KNBSB), passed away on Tuesday, August 19 at the age of 80 in his home-town Apeldoorn.
Van Meerkerk also has been a baseball-umpire for several years and has been active for Apeldoorn-based baseball/softball-club Robur '58.
In 2011, he was named Honorary Member of the KNBSB.
The memorial service for Dick van Meerkerk will be held on Monday, August 25 at 1:00 PM in De Hofzaal of Crematorium Heidehof, located at the Engelanderholt 95 in Ugchelen.
After the memorial service, it is possible to offer condolences to the family.

Cornelis Dirk (Dick) van Meerkerk was born on April 14, 1945 in Leiden.
Several years later, he moved to Apeldoorn.
There, he became active for local club Robur '58, as was his wife Jeanne.
Dick was named Member of Merit of the club.
Dick van Meerkerk became a baseball-umpire in 1987 in then-Rayon Oost (East).
From 1989 through 1995, he was an umpire on the national level, which included officiating some games in the highest league.
In 1989, Van Meerkerk became a member of the so-called Accomodations Committee of the KNBSB, which checks the playing sites of clubs.
He remained a member of this committee for 23 years, retiring towards the end of 2011.
For his many contributions for this committee, Dick van Meerkerk was named Honorary Member on December 10, 2011.
