Starting Pitchers Coming Series
Nederlands
AMSTERDAM (Neth.) -
Coming Thursday-afternoon (May 29), the next 3-day series opens in the Dutch big league.
In the upcoming series, the opening-game will be played in the afternoon, instead of in the evening.
On this Thursday, which is Ascension Day, all games will begin at 2 PM.
In the previous series, Curaçao Neptunus was handed its first loss of the season.
In the opener against Amsterdam Pirates on Thursday-evening, Neptunus again came close to its first loss.
The Rotterdam-team trailed 1-0 after seven innings, but then came alongside in the eighth, scored twice in the ninth and won 3-1.
With the win, Neptunus won its 19th game in a row since the start of the season to equal the longest opening-streak ever.
In 2022, HCAW began the season with 19 victories.
That winning streak was then ended by Amsterdam Pirates.
After Saturday's game had rained out, Pirates also ended the winning-streak of Neptunus the next day.
Initially, it appeared that Neptunus again had successfully erased a deficit.
This time, Pirates led 3-0 after four innings.
Neptunus then rallied for four runs in the fifth and added a run in the sixth.
But this time, the 5-3 lead halfway the seventh inning was not enough.
In the bottom of the seventh, Pirates turned the game around again by scoring five runs and scored another one in the eighth to win 9-5.
And so, Pirates struck again to end a long winning-streak.
Last Saturday, all four games rained out and were re-scheduled for Tuesday-evening.
On Sunday, the next game between UVV and Worldwide Pharma Logistics Hoofddorp Pioniers also rained out.
That game was made-up on Monday-evening.
Pioniers then not only recorded a huge 18-0 win in seven innings, but also held UVV hitless.
Noah Zavolas (six innings) and Wesley Jansen (one) were the pitchers in this Combined No-Hitter.
On Tuesday-evening, the four make-up games again were cancelled due to the weather-conditions.
Three of the games were re-scheduled for coming Tuesday-evening (June 3).
The fourth game will be made up a week later (June 10).
Beneath are the announced (probable) starting pitchers for the eighth 3-game series of the 2025 season that opens on Thursday-afternoon, May 29.
As always, these pitching assignments can change on game-days.
