AMSTERDAM (Neth.) - ADO played a 2-2 tie vs. Robur '58, last years First Division-champion, in the second game of a triple-header with three teams in Amsterdam. The day started with L&D Amsterdam meeting Robur '58 and was completed with Amsterdam playing against ADO.
ADO faced an 1-0 deficit in the second inning, after it had left runners on third base in the first and second at bat.
In the first, Dimitri Leon walked with one out and moved on a passed ball and a grounder, but stranded at third.
In the second, Michel Korzeniewski reached on an error with one out and advanced to third when Gregory Hassell doubled, but these two also stranded.
Robur also left a runner on third base in its first inning, but then scored in the next at bat.
Martijn Guillot led off with an infield-hit, moved on two grounders, then scored on a double by Emeron Lourens.
In the fourth inning, ADO took a 2-1 lead.
Bobbie van Duuren led off with a double, then his brother René van Duuren was hit by a pitch with one out.
The two are playing in their first season with ADO. Bobbie last season played in the First Division-team of MediaMonks RCH, while René played for TYBB in Haarlem.
Next, a throwing error on a force play-grounder by Michel Korzeniewski enabled Bobbie to score, while René reached third base.
He then scored on a sacfrice squeeze bunt by Gregory Hassell.
In the fifth inning, ADO had runners on first and second base with one out, but then Robur '58 turned a double play to end the at bat.
In its fifth, Robur tied the score, but failed to take the lead.
With one out and Sebastiaan Zwerus (fielder's choice) on first base, ADO's American starter Brent Henry uncorked two wild pitches, then walked Emeron Lourens.
Next, Robbert Heuvelman singled to tie the score, before Henry loaded the bases by walking Joris van Ballegooy.
But then Henry struckout next batter Ryan Bregieta and ended the inning when Raul Werleman grounded out.
After Robur-pitcher Matthijs Naujoks retired the side in the sixth, the team from Apeldoorn got another chance to score the winning run in the sixth off new pitcher Jeoffrey de Groot.
With two outs, De Groot hit Martijn Guillot and Rhiency Imperator with a pitch, but then ended the game by striking out Sebastiaan Zwerus.
