Dutch Team opens European Championship with comfortable win

ROSMALEN (Neth.) -
The Netherlands Women Softball Team opened the European Championship on Sunday-evening (July 19) with a comfortable 10-0 win in four innings vs. Germany.
Dutch starting pitcher Eva Voortman gave up only two hits in three innings, then Ginger de Weert retired the side in the fourth.
Leading 1-0, the Orange rallied for six runs in the second inning on four hits, including a 2-run double by rookie Suka Van Gurp and an RBI-single by Saskia Kosterink.
Three runs were added in the third inning witout hitting a basehit.
Three batters walked, one run was scored on a wild pitch, the other on a sacrifice fly and a grounder.
