Dutch Team wins big twice; Soumeru celebrates milestone

ROSMALEN (Neth.) - The Netherlands Women Softball Team won big twice on Day 2 of the European Championship in Rosmalen (Netherlands). The Dutch Team won 15-0 vs. Israel in the afternoon, then won 12-0 vs. Sweden in the evening.

Veteran pitcher Rebecca Soumeru started the game against Sweden, then was replaced with two outs in the third inning, which was a planned changed to give her the honor from the some 500 spectators, as this was her 100th official international game in the national squad. Soumeru made her debut in 2001 and currently participates in her eighth European Championship.

In the game against Israel, the Dutch Team colleced 13 basehits, including three by Saskia Kosterink. Pitchers Ilona Andringa and Lindsey Meadows threw a combined No-Hitter.

Against Sweden, the Dutch Team had 11 basehits, including three by Britt Vonk, who also homered.
