Nederlands
RONCHI DEI LEGIONARI (Italy) -
Oolders Omaco Sparks Haarlem has won the European Premiere Cup by winning the all-deciding final on Saturday (August 20) against Joudrs Praha with a 3-1 score.
In the final, Sparks Haarlem faced a surprising opponent in Joudrs Praha.
Earlier in the day, the Czech team won 2-0 in the backdoor-game against Forlì, meaning the Italians were eliminated.
On Friday-evening, Joudrs won only 1-0 against Bussolengo to reach the backdoor-game.
With that, the Czechs eliminated both tournament-winners of last year.
Bussolengo then had won the Premiere Cup, while Forlì had won the Cup Winners Cup.
Joudrs always has been and still is a tough opponent and underscored that again in the final.
Trailing 2-0, Joudrs got a run back in the sixth, but moments later, a single by Karin Tuk accounted for an insurance run for Sparks Haarlem, lifting the lead to 3-1.
Sparks Haarlem played a strong game and had some fine defensive plays to support pitchers Ginger de Weert and Rebecca Soumeru.
