    Olympia Haarlem & Roef! ongeslagen na Dag 1 Jan de Wit Toernooi

 HAARLEM -
FysioExpert Olympia Haarlem en Roef! waren de enige twee ongeslagen teams na afloop van de eerste speeldag van het jaarlijkse Jan de Wit Toernooi op zaterdag (8 april).
De twee ploegen eindigden op de eerste plaats in respectievelijk Poule A en Poule B om zich te plaatsen voor de Finale-ronde.
Zij krijgen daarin gezelschap van Euro Stars en Birds, die op de tweede plaats eindigden.
Op zaterdag werden twaalf wedstrijden gespeeld en kwamen de acht deelnemende teams allemaal driemaal in actie.
In Poule A won het organiserende Olympia Haarlem nipt met 3-2 van Euro Stars in hun eerste duel.
Olympia stond met 2-0 achter, maar scoorde daarna drie punten in de tweede inning via een fout, vier wijd met volle honken van Tomoko Godo en een opofferingsslag van Rachel van Veen.
Een nieuwe 'close game' volgde tegen Twins, dat eindigde in een 2-2 gelijkspel.
Olympia stond wederom achter, dit keer met 1-0 in de eerste inning, maar antwoordde met twee punten, dankzij een 2-run single van Shareday Christina.
Twins kwam langszij in de derde na een honkslag van Minke Blok.
Olympia Haarlem sloot de vooronde af met een 8-1 winst tegen de Nationale Ploeg van Franrijk.
In dit duel sloeg Jessie van Aalst een honkslag, tweehonkslag en driehonkslag, terwijl Brenda Beers twee triples liet noteren.
In Poule boekte Roef! drie overwinningen en dat waren allen shutouts.
De ploeg begon het toernooi met een 4-0 shutout-winst tegen het Russische Carrousel.
Hoogtepunten in de wedstrijd waren twee puntscorende driehonkslagen van Isa Los.
Hierna won Roef! met 7-0 van Birds, waarna werd afgesloten met een 3-0 winst tegen Hamburg Knights uit Duitsland.
In de wedstrijd tegen Birds kwam Roef! tot een rally van vijf punten in de eerste inning met als hoogtepunt een 2-run triple van Manon van Alebeek.
Tegen Hamburg scoorde Roef! tweemaal in de eerste inning na een honkslag van Kim Donkers en een fout, waarna een punt werd toegevoegd in de vierde.
Euro Stars eindigde op de tweede plaats in Poule A door met 4-1 te winnen van Frankrijk en met 8-5 van Twins.
Birds won ook tweemaal in Poule B om de Finale-ronde te bereiken.
Birds opende met een 1-0 winst tegen Hamburg, waarna werd verloren van Roef!, maar de ploeg herstelde zich en sloot de dag af met een 2-0 winst tegen de Russische ploeg.
In de resterende wedstrijd in Poule A won Frankrijk met 11-4 van Twins en in Poule B won Carrousel met 1-0 vs. Hamburg.
Het toernooi wordt zondag afgesloten op het complex van Olympia Haarlem, vanaf 10:00 uur.
De Finale staat op het programma voor 15:30 uur.

De Glaskoning Twins vs. Frankrijk
Frankrijk boekte een overtuigende 11-4 overwinning tegen Twins in de openingswedstrijd van het toernooi.
Kort nadat de wedstrijd om 9 uur 's morgens van start ging scoorde Frankrijk twee punten in de eerste helft van de eerste inning op starter Sheila van der Tang.
Met één uit sloeg Camille Lemaire een honkslag en scoorde het eerste punt van het toernooi na een driehonkslag van Raina Hunter.
Nadat volgende slagvrouw Camille Riera vier wijd had gekregen scoorde Hunter het volgende punt op een honkslag van Carrie Pitcher.
Vier punten werden toegevoegd in de tweede inning.
Met een loopster op het eerste honk en één uit sloegen Pauline Prade en Camille Lemaire back-to-back puntscorende doubles en dat zorgde voor een werpsterswissel.
Carling Hare nam het over, maar werd begroet met de derde opeenvolgende RBI-double, dit keer geslagen door Raina Hunter, die later scoorde na een fout.
Hunter, Pitcher en Prade zijn bekende namen.
Hunter speelde in de Nederlandse Hoofdklasse voor Alcmaria Victrix.
Vorig seizoen speelde Prade voor Olympia Haarlem in de Golden League, terwijl Pitcher in de Silver League uitkwam voor HCAW.
Frankrijk voegde twee runs toe in de vierde inning op vier honklsagen en scoorde weer een nieuw punt in de vijfde om de stand op te voeren naar 9-0.
In de 2e5 kwam Twins tot een rally van vier punten.
Claudia Kranendonk begon met een honkslag, maar werd gedwongen uitgeschakeld op een klap van Sterre den Duijn, wat werd gevolgd door een werpsterswissel.
De honken kwamen daarna vol te staan toen Ellinor Keepers en Sheila van der Tang (met twee uit) beiden vier wijd kregen.
Hierna sloeg Bobbi Scheurkogel twee punten binnen met een honkslag, waarna Ismay Poot volgde met een 2-run triple.
Maar daar bleef het bij voor Twins.
Frankrijk scoorde nog twee punten in de zesde inning om er een 11-4 stand van te maken.
Frankrijk kwam tot 16 honkslagen, waaronder vier van Raina Hunter (2 doubles, 1 triple) en drie van Carrie Pitcher.

FysioExpert Olympia Haarlem vs. Euro Stars
Euro Stars, dat uitkomt in de Silver League, nam een 2-0 voorsprong in de eerste helft van de eerste inning met het scoren van twee onverdiende punten op Amber Krijgsman, die het hele duel gooide voor Olympia Haarlem.
Lead-off hitter Britt Amersfoort kwam na een fout op het honk, schoof op na een grounder van Tanisha van Krevel en scoorde toen Radna Mambi homerde met twee uit.
De voorsprong was van korte duur.
Euro Stars-starter Shomayra Franka kreeg drie nullen op rij in de eerste ining, maar moest daarna drie onverdiende punten toestaan toen er twee kostbare fouten werden gemaakt.
Brenda Beers opende met een driehonklsag, waarna ze scoorde toen er een fout werd gemaakt bij een poging haar op de plaat uit te schakelen op een grounder van Maranca Ham.
De laatste schoof in deze situatie op naar het tweede honk, waarna Eva Voortman's uithaal werd gemist in het outfield en de honken vol kwamen te staan toen Mariëlle Vleugels vier wijd kreeg.
Volgende slagvrouw Tomoko Godo kreeg eveneens vier wijd en bracht zo het gelijkmakende punt binnen.
Een opofferingsslag van Rachel van Veen zorgde voor het volgene punt en zette Olympia op voorsprong, 3-2.
In de volgende twee innings liet Olympia Haarlem twee loopsters achter in scoringspositie op Franka, die in de vijfde werd opgevolgd door Chantal Fehling.
Die kreeg twee honkloopsters met twee uit, maar Olympia liet wederom een loopster in scoringspositie achter.
Na het toestaan van de twee punten in de eerst inning stond Amber Krijgsman nog vier honkslagen toe in het restant van de wedstrijd, maar Euro Stars kwam niet meer in scoringspositie.
Ze schakelde tien van de laatste elf slagvrouwen uit.

Roef! vs. Carrousel
Roef! shutout Carrousel in its first game of the tournament.
Starting pitcher Marjolein Merkx gave up only three hits and allowed only one runner to reach second base in the five innings she pitched.
Mikayla Endicott closed the game and retired the side in the sixth, striking out the last two batters.
Roef! opened the score with one run in the first inning.
Wies Ligtvoet led off with a walk and moved to third base on two consecutive wild pitches.
Next batter Eva van Knegsel also walked and stole second base.
With one out, Ligtvoet scored on a sacrifice fly by Kim Donkers, but Van Knegsel was left behind.
After leaving three runners behind in the second inning, Roef! added a run in the third at bat.
With one out, Kim Donkers singled and scored on a following triple by Isa Los.
In the fifth, Roef! increased its lead to 4-0.
Wies Ligtvoet again led off with a walk, stole second base and scored on a 2-out single by Kim Donkers.
The latter was replaced by pinch-runner Maureen van Poorten, who then scored when Isa Los delivered her second runscoring triple.

Birds vs. Hamburg Knights
Only one run was scored in this game, but that could have been more.
However, both teams stranded runners in scoring position and the lone run was scored on a walk-off error in the sixth inning.
Lisa Hop threw a strong game for Birds and gave up only two basehits.
In the third inning, the righthander gave up a lead-off double to Celina MacKenzie, who stole third base, but would be left behind.
In the fourth, Alexandra Stüwe singled for Hamburg with one out, but was caught stealing.
In the sixth, Hamburg would leave it second running in scoring position.
With two outs, Mie Tornblom walked and stole second, but a flyout ended the inning.
Birds got more scoring opportunities, but left four runners behind in scoring position, before deciding the game in the sixth.
In the first inning, lead-off hitter Lisa Bouwman reached on an error, stole second and moved on a wild pitch, but was left behind on third base.
In the third, with one out, Anne Ketelaar doubled and Lisa Bouwman singled.
However, Ketelaar was then picked off at third base.
Isa Hop followed with an infield-hit, but two runners were left behind.
In the fourth, three runners were left behind.
With one out and Laura Iannelli (fielder's choice) in first base, a throwing error followed on a force play-grounder by Michelle van der Meer.
The bases got loaded when next batter Kelsey Huijzers walked.
Hereafter, it was Iannelli who was eliminated at third base with a pick-off.
The bases got loaded agaun when Julie Winkel also walked, but a strikeout ended the at bat.
In the sixth inning, Michelle van der Meer walked with two outs and went on to score the lone run when pinch-hitter Jacqueline de Hoog reached on an error.

FysioExpert Olympia Haarlem vs. De Glaskoning Twins
After winning its first game of the tournament with an one-run difference earlier today, host Olympia Haarlem played a 2-2 tie against Twins in its next match-up.
Twins had started the day with a big loss against France.
Twins opened the score in the top of the first inning off of starter Mariëlle Vleugels.
She gave up lead-off singles to Bobbi Scheurkogel and Imane Alou Issa.
When Minke Blok connected for the third consecutive single, Twins scored its first run.
With two outs, the team got the bases loaded when Ismay Poot walked, but a line drive ended the at bat.
And three runners stranded.
Olympia Haarlem reacted with two runs in its first at bat off of starter Carling Hare.
She walked Rachel van Veen and Brenda Beers.
After the first was forced out on a grounder by Emma Wojcik, the bases got loaded when Jessie van Aalst also walked.
Hereafter, Shareday Christina followed with a 2-run single.
A wild pitch put runners on second and third base, but they were then left behind.
In the second inning, Bobbi Scheurkogel took over the pitching for Twins and threw five strong innings.
She retired 14 of the sixteen batters she faced.
The lone player to reach base was Cheska Ham.
She singled in the second inning, but then was ruled out for leaving first base too early.
Scheurkogel then retired eight batters in a row.
Ham then reached on a single, but her pinch-runner Stephanie Pearce was left behind, as Scheurkogel retired the next five batters.

Euro Stars took more distance by scoring twice in the second at bat.
Charlotte Drijvers and Romy van der Ham began with singles, which led to runners on second and third base, as an outfield-error followed the second basehit.
With one out, a run was scored when Britt Amersfoort singled, then the next run followed on a sacrifice fly by Michelle Lucardie.
In both the fourth and fifth inning, Euro Stars left a runner behind on third base.
France also stranded two runners in scoring position in the remainder of the game.

Carrousel vs. Hamburg Knights
This was the second game today in which only one run was recorded.
And it was scored right away in the first inning.
Hamburg Knights left two runners behind in the top of the first inning, then Carrousel scored the lone run in the bottom of the at bat.
Veteran international player Daria Semenova led off with a double and scored when an error followed on a grounder by Tanja Zuchkova.
In the remainder of the game, Hamburg reached base five more times.
In the third, Ayla Bockelmann led off with a double, moved on a sacrifice bunt by Mie Tornblom, but was then eliminated at the plate trying to score on a grounder by Celina MacKenzie.
The German squad left runners on second base in the next three innings.
Carrousel got into scoring position again in the fourth and fifth.
But both times, runners were left behind at second and third base.

Roef! vs. Birds
Mikayla Endicott and Gini Ketelaars threw a combined Perfect Game in this 7-0 shutout-win for Roef! against Birds.
The duo retired all 15 batters they faced in this 5-inning game.
Offensively, Roef! decided the game with a 5-run rally in the first inning on five basehits.
Wies Ligtvoet led off with a single, moved on a wild pitch and scored the first run on a single by Eva van Knegsel.
With one out, Isa Los delivered the next runscoring single.
Hereafter, it was Cindy van der Zanden who singled and Manon van Alebeek followed with a 2-run triple to make it a 4-0 score.
Moments later, she scored the next run herself of a 2-out single by Charlotte Haen.
The sixth run was scored in the third at bat.
Cindy van der Zanden led off with a walk and went on to score with two outs when Maureen van Poorten reached on an error.
The 7-run, mercy-rule, difference was reached with two outs in the fifth.
Charlotte Haen then singled and was replaced by pinch-runner Sophie Verdaasdonk.
The bases got loaded when Maureen van Poorten also singled and Wies Ligtvoet walked.
The game ended when next batter Eva van Knegsel also singled.

De Glaskoning Twins vs. Euro Stars
Euro Stars trailed 4-1 after four innings, but then scored seven runs in the next two innings and went on to win 8-5.
Twins-starter Margot van Eijl gave up a lead-off single in the first inning to Britt Amersfoort, but then retired the next nine batters in a row.
When she allowed the next batter to reach base in the fourth inning, Twins was leading 3-0.
Twins opened the score in the second inning.
Michelle van Bodegom led off with a triple and scored on a following single by Claudia Kranendonk, who was forced out herself moments later.
Twins added two runs in the third at bat.
Nina Oomes led off with a double, advanced on a single by Rose Mwaro and scored on a sacrifice fly by Bobbi Scheurkogel.
In the meantime, Mwaro had stolen second base and scored when Michelle van Bodegom followed with a single.
Euro Stars scored its first run in the top of the fourth.
The bases got loaded when Amy Gielen, Michelle Lucardie and Radna Mambi all singled.
Hereafter, Gielen was forced out at the plate on a grounder by Anna Prins.
Moments later, a run was scored on a sacrifice fly by Eliza van 't Zelfde.
Twins got the run back immediately in its fourth at bat after a pitching change.
Claudia Kranendonk led off with a single, which was followed by an outfield-error.
After Sterre den Duijn walked, Ismay Poot reached on a bunt-single, which moved the other runners.
When a throwing followed, Kranendonk was able to continue running towards the plate and score a run and make it a 4-1 score.
The turn-around in the game came in the top of the fifth inning when Euro Stars scored four runs, which were all unearned.
Kim van der Valk led off with a single.
After advancing on a grounder, she tried to score on a single by Britt Amersfoort, but was eliminated at the plate.
Hereafter, a grounder by Amy Gielen ended in an error and a run.
Next batter Michelle Lucardie walked and Radna Mambi then connected for her second homerun of the day to put Euro Stars ahead, 5-4.
Twins came alongside in the bottom of the fifth.
With one out, the bases got loaded when Emma de Brouwer was hit by a pitch, Michelle van Bodegom singled and Claudia Kranendonk was walked intentionally.
A force out at the plate followed on a grounder by Sterre den Duijn, but the tying was then scored when Ismay Poot was hit by a pitch.
Three runners were left behind when a strikeout ended the inning.
In the sixth, Euro Stars took the lead again.
Tanisha van Krevel and Kim van der Valk led off with back-to-back triples, which made it 6-5 and led to a pitching change.
Van der Valk then scored the next run when an error was made on a bunt by Renske Jansen.
With two outs, Jansen scored ona double by Michelle Lucardie to make it an 8-5 score in favor of Euro Stars.
Reliever Romy van der Ham got two baserunners with one out, but a double play then ended the game.

Olympia Haarlem scored its first run with two outs in the first inning.
Shareday Christina then walked and scored when Brenda Beers followed with a triple.
Olympia added two unearned runs in the next at bat.

Hamburg Knights vs. Roef!
In its final game today, Roef! shutout Hamburg Knights, 3-0.
The team from Rosmalen opened the score quickly with two runs in the top of the first inning.
Wies Ligtvoet led off with a single, stole second base and moved on a wild pitch.
Hereafter, Eva van Knegsel walked and advanced on a fielder's choice.
Kim Donkers followed with a runscoring single.
That brought in Ligtvoet, but van Knegsel was eliminated at the plate when she also tried to score.
Shortly hereafter, Donkers stole second base, but was then eliminated at third base.
Isa Los then walked and went on to score when Cindy van der Zanden reached on an error.
In the third, Roef! got another chance to add some runs, but failed to do so.
With one out, Kim Donkers walked and Isa Los singled.
Donkers was then forced out at third on a grounder by Cindy van der Zanden, but then bases got loaded when Naftely Pietersz walked.
The inning ended when Los was picked off at third base.
After a pitching change, Roef! added its third run in the fourth.
With one out, Charlotte Haen reached on an error and her pinch-runner Sophie Verdaasdonk scored on a single by Ilse van Kerkoerle.
Roef!-starter Manon van Alebeek had a fine outing.
She got some baserunners, but never allowed one to reach third base.

Birds vs. Carrousel
Birds closed the first day of the tournament with a 2-0 win against Carrousel behind a strong outing of Lisa Hop.
The righthander threw a complete game one-hitter and struckout six batters.
Lisa Hop retired the first 14 batters in a row (the last four with a strikeout), but her Perfect Game ended with two outs in the fifth when Katja Aleshina singled.
She was left behind on first base, as Hop closed the inning with her sixth strikeout.
With one out in the sixth, she walked a batter, but a double play then ended the inning and the game.
Birds had opened the score in the second inning.
Celine Janssens led off with a single, advanced on a grounder by Fleur Bos and scored on a single by Laura Iannelli.
Hereafter, Lisa Bouwman walked, but a double play followed.
The team from Zoetermeer added its next run in the fourth and it was again scored by Celine Janssens.
This time, she led off with a triple and scored with two outs when a grounder by Lisa Bouwman ended in a throwing error.
