(© Photo: Henk Seppen) Today, all teams would have played their fifth and sixth game, as this was to be the third weekend of play. However, as you know, the softball-season is on hold, as all regular season-games have been annuled through June 9 because of measures taken against the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. New dates have not yet been announced. From March 12 on, the Government of the Netherlands regularly announced several (stricter) measures due to the coronavirus. The most recent announcement was made on Tuesday, April 21 when earlier measures were extended through May 19, while gatherings and events are prohibited though September 1. Earlier, the Royal Netherlands Baseball and Softball Assocation (KNBSB) announced that it will give teams a three-week preparation period when it is allowed to return to the fields and open the season. With that, the KNBSB announced on Wednesday (April 29) that it had annulled all regular season-games through June 9. Softball and baseball will be back. But only when health and safety conditions for everyone involved, players, coaches, game-officials, fans, team- and club-staffmembers, etc. are good enough to do so.
