AMSTERDAM / HOOFDDORP / AMERSFOORT / HAARLEM (Neth.) -
Today (Saturday, April 25), the second series of double-headers were scheduled in both the Golden League and Silver League.
However, like last week, there was no softballl, as all sports-accomodations are currently closed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
All games have been postponed to a yet to be announced new date.

On March 15, stricter measures were announced by the Dutch Government, all activities were cancelled through April 6.
Eight days later, the Royal Netherlands Baseball and Softball Association (KNBSB) on March 23 announced that it had cancelled all games through April 27 in order to give teams a three-week period to prepare in case it would be possible to open the new season thereafter.
On March 31, the Goverment-measures were extended through April 28 and all gatherings and events were cancelled and were forbidden through June 1.
The next day (April 1), the KNBSB announced it had annulled all games through May 19 to keep the three-week preparation period intact.
Last Tuesday (April 21), the measures were extended through May 20, while all gatherings and events are now cancelled and forbidden through September 1.
Coming Tuesday (April 28), the KNBSB will come with an announcement what the effects of the new extended measures will have on the scheduling and format of the new baseball- and softball-seasons.
Today (April 25) was a somewhat cloudy and windy day, but still the weather conditions were very acceptable to play softball.
On Day 2 of the regular season, Amsterdam Pirates and Quick Amersfoort were scheduled to play their first home-games in the highest Dutch league
In Amsterdam, reigning champion Roef! was to visit Amsterdam Pirates, while Quick Amersfoort was to host Tex Town Tigers.
For Quick Amersfoort, this would have been its first home-games in the Golden League after the team promoted last season by finishing in third place in the Promotion/Relegation Pool.
This season, Quick makes its debut in the highest league.
For Amsterdam Pirates, it would have the first home-games in the big league since 2007.
Amsterdam Pirates first played in the big league in 1989, but then relegated after its first season.
After winning the title in the second highest league in 1990, Pirates then played for 15 seasons (1991-2005) in the big league.
In that span, the team reached the Play-Offs four times.
In 1996 and 1997, Pirates won the European Cup Winners Cup.
In 1996, in Haarlem (Netherlands), the team swept Sparks in the best-of-three Final, winning 6-1 and 3-1.
Catcher Judith van Erk was the tournament's Most Valuable Player and Laura van den Berg was Best Pitcher.
A year later, in Oosterhout (Netherlands), Pirates swept Rimini (Italy) in the best-of-three Final, winning 1-0 and 3-0.
This time, the team had the tournament's Best Hitter in Evelien Pietersz.
As Cupholder, the team also qualified for participation in 1998.
The event was then played in Almere (Netherlands) and Pirates won the Bronze Medak behind Ronchi Dei Legionari Peanuts (Italy) and Terrasvogels.
Pirates relegated in 2005 after losing a best-of-five Relegation Series against Birds.
In 2006, Pirates immediately returned after winning the title in the First Division, but a tough 2007 season followed.
The team then was 4-31 and relegated again.
In 2018, Pirates reached the Promotion/Relegation Play-Off, but lost to DSS.
Last year, the roles are reversed as Pirates defeated DSS in the Promotion/Relegation Series to promote to the Golden League.
When the health and safety conditions for everyone involved are permitted to do so, baseball and softball will be back.
Until then, take care and stay safe!
Beneath are the games that were scheduled to be played on Saturday with the assignments of the game-officials.
