ADO secures big league-place for 2012
Nederlands
CAPELLE a/d IJSSEL (Neth.) - ADO will play again in the Dutch big league in the 2012 season, as the team nipped Euro Stars 4-3 on Saturday to win the best-of-five Promotion/Relegation Play-Off, 3-1. Because of this result, Euro Stars again will play in the second highest division, the 'Overgangsklasse'.

The win came a day after the Dutch Association informed both teams of the status of Game 3, which was halted a week ago by the umpiring crew after seven complete innings. The KNBSB decided that Euro Stars was responsible for the stopping and declared that the game ended in a 2-0 forfait win for ADO, which therefore started the weekend with a 2-1 lead in the series.

Trailing 1-0, ADO scored three runs in the second inning, but in the end scored the deciding run in the ninth inning.

After ADO was retired in order in the first inning by Euro Stars-starter Brent Buffa, the home team opened the score in its first at bat. ADO-starter Jurandy Girigori walked lead-off hitter Aldy Guzman, then reached second base safely when an error was made during a steal attempt. He then advanced to third base on a grounder by Calvin Simmonds and scored on a passed ball.

In the second inning, ADO reacted with three runs on three hits, but Euro Stars also committed three errors. Enrique Tromp walked and advanced to third base when Dave Steward followed with a single. After the latter was caught stealing, Tromp scored the tying run when Gino Hersilia reached on an error. Next, Jaïr Roseburg singled, but then two throwing errors followed on a force play-grounder by Remco Seitzinger, which led to the second run. Seitzinger then advanced on a single by Quensley Bazoer and scored on a passed ball.

In the next six innings ADO was held scoreless by Buffa and left the bases loaded in the fourth inning.

In the fourth inning, Euro Stars got one run back. With one out, Aldrin Martis singled and advanced on a grounder, then scored when a throwing error was made on a grounder by Jochem Pronk. A single by Ben Groenendijk and walk for Mark Schipperus then loaded the bases, but Girigori then ended the at bat by striking out Dylan Nuts.

Euro Stars then left two more runners in the sixth inning, but came alongside in the eighth at bat. Jeffrey Sprott struckout, but reached on a passed ball, then stole second base and scored on a single by Brent Buffa.

In the ninth inning, ADO re-took the lead. Remco Seitzinger led off with a single and Quensley Bazoer followed with a bunt-single, which led to a pitching change. Brendan Schoemaker took over and Jan Baldee was brought in as pinch-runner for Seitzinger. The bases then got loaded when Greg Hassell also reached on a bunt-single. After Gino Henson became the first out on an infield-fly, another bunt followed. Gyenuar Lopez successfully put down a squeeze-bunt, reached on a single and enabled Baldee to score the go-ahead run. With the bases loaded, Enrique Tromp struckout and Jareau Martina grounded out, but ADO had renewed its lead.

Jurandy Girigori, who walked eight batters and struckout seven, but gave up only four hits, went the distance for ADO. In the ninth, the lefthander gave up a lead-off single to pinch-hitter Allard Lammerts van Bueren, who then stole second base and moved to third base on a sac-bunt by Orlando Eduarda. But with the tying run on third base, a flyout and pop-fly followed to end the game and secure ADO's spot in the highest division for 2012.
