 Awards for Cordemans, Urbanus in Amsterdam

Rob Cordemans was named Male Athlete of the Year and Charles Urbanus was named Coach of the Year on Tuesday-evening during the annual Amsterdam Sports Gala.
In five categories there were three nomineees named by sports journalists and then the public could vote for the winners via internet.
Richard Schuil (beachvolleyball) and Thomas Schoorel (tennis) were also named for Athlete of the Year, while Urbanus out-voted Taco van den Honert (hockey) and Frank de Boer (Ajax, soccer).
L&D Amsterdam Pirates, which this year won the Dutch baseball-title, was one of three teams named for Team of the Year, but that award went to Ajax, which won the Dutch soccer-title for the first time in seven years.
Also nominated was Amsterdam Hockey.
Jiske Griffioen (wheelchair-tennis) was named Female Athlete of the Year, for which also were nominated Ellen van Dijk (cycling) and Esmé Kamphuis (bobsled).
Talent of the Year was Esmee Vermeulen (swimming).
Also nominated were Koen Smet (track & field) and Tomas Valk (snowboarding).
