Dutch Team to honor Greg Halman

The Dutch National Baseball Team will honor former National Team-player Greg Halman during the upcoming 26th edition of the Haarlem Baseball Week.
During the press conference for the Haarlem Baseball Week, National Team Manager Brian Farley on Thursday announced that the team will wear a special patch on their sleeves with the initials of Greg Halman.
With this, the team will honor the outfielder, who sadly passed away last November, while being in the Netherlands in the off-season after completion of his professional season in the organization of the Seattle Mariners.
In 2010 and 2011, Halman played for the Mariners in the Major League and in both years, in November, he was an instructor during the European Big League Tour, organized by Dutch Pitcher Rick van den Hurk, who currently pitches in the Triple-A team of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Only two weeks after last years Tour, Greg Halman passed away, being only 24 years old.
The Haarlem Baseball Week opens on Friday, July 13 and runs through Sunday, July 22.
Participating in this years event are Cuba, Japan, Puerto Rico, Taiwan, USA and of course reigning World Champion Netherlands.
On Thursday, July 12, the Dutch Team will play an exhibition game against Team USA at the site of Amsterdam Pirates, starting at 7:30 PM.
