HOOFDDORP / ROTTERDAM / BUSSUM / AMSTERDAM (Neth.) -
On Saturday, three big shutouts were registered, as the race for fourth and final place in the Play-Offs is to be decided on Sunday, the final day of the regular season.
Vaessen Pioniers won 15-0 vs. AamigoO ADO Lakers to remain in fourth place, only two points ahead of UVV, which shutout Sparta-Feyenoord, 9-0.
UVV belted 19 basehits, including four by Austin Weymouth.
In Bussum, DOOR Neptunus trailed 1-0 after one inning, led only 4-3 after two innings, but then struck, scoring 20 runs from the fifth through seventh inning to win 24-3.
The 24 runs were only four shy of tying the single-season record, which was set by HCAW in 1998.
Neptunus got 22 basehits with all nine starting players hitting at least two.
Rien Vernooij and Benjamin Dille almost went for-the-cycle, but Vernooij missed a triple and Dille missed a single.
The two combined on nine runs batted in.
League-leader L&D Amsterdam Pirates took an 1-0 lead in the first inning on a homerun by Wesley Connor, but trailed 2-1 vs. Corendon Kinheim in the fifth at bat.
Connor then hit a 2-run homerun to lead Amsterdam to a 3-2 victory.
With his two homeruns, Connor moved into first place, as he now has nine, one ahead of Bryan Engelhardt (Kinheim).
