HAARLEM / ROTTERDAM / AMSTERDAM / VLEUTEN (Neth.) -
The top-4 on Sunday again won their games and thus enlargened the gap between fifth placed UVV, which is the lone remaining serious candidate to qualify for the Play-Offs.
AamigoO ADO Lakers and Mr. Cocker HCAW still can reach the Play-Offs, but their chances of doing so are only theoretical.
Sparta-Feyenoord, which is in last place, on Sunday became the first team to officially being eliminated for the Play-Offs and therefore will play in the Play-Downs after completion of the regular season.
Luke Sommer (Corendon Kinheim) and Diegomar Markwell (DOOR Neptunus) on Sunday became the first pitchers to register their eighth victory of the season.
Rob Cordemans (L&D Amsterdam Pirates) is 7-0, but didn't pitch in this weekend's series.
Luke Sommer gave up only four hits in eight innings and struckout six in leading Corendon Kinheim to a 4-2 win vs. Mr. Cocker HCAW.
But in the second inning, he faced a 2-1 deficit, which wasn't erased until the seventh inning.
After Kinheim took an 1-0 lead in the first inning and left the bases loaded, HCAW scored twice in the second inning when two errors were made.
Sommer then retired 19 of the next 21 batters, including eleven in a row and was supported with three runs in the seventh inning.
With the bases loaded, one out and after a pitching change, Ramiro Balentina hit a 3-run double that gave Kinheim the lead.
Diegomar Markwell also needed a late rally from his teammates en route to his eighth win of the season, while DOOR Neptunus won 4-2 vs. UVV.
In the fifth inning, Neptunus broke an 1-1 tie by scoring three runs.
A single by Rafaël Jozefa gave Neptunus the lead, then a pitching change followed.
A single by Raily Legito and double by Jeffrey Arends then made it 4-1.
In the sixth, Rodney Michel hit his first homerun of the season for UVV that narrowed the deficit to 4-2.
L&D Amsterdam Pirates's 1-0 lead was equaled by AamigoO ADO Lakers in the fifth inning off new pitcher Rik Geestman, who had come in to relief starter Ian Delemarre.
The home team answered with three runs in the home half to take a 4-1 lead, earning Geestman his first win of the season.
A single by Wesley Connor renewed Amsterdam's lead off Thomas Macy, who walked three batters and hit another in this at bat.
After Rudy van Heydoorn homered for ADO Lakers in the sixth off new pitcher Nick Stuifbergen, Amsterdam decided the game with a 6-run rally in the sixth, highlighted by a 2-run single by Roelie Henrique and an RBI-double by Bas de Jong.
Amsterdam went on to win 10-4.
Vaessen Pioniers won 7-2 vs. Sparta-Feyenoord, but also decided the game from the fifth inning on.
Trailing 1-0, Pioniers came alongside in the second, took the lead in the third, then scored twice in the fifth inning on singles by Michael Duursma and Dè Flanegin.
Pioniers then took more distance by adding runs in the seventh and eighth at bat.
