HCAW names new coachingstaff
BUSSUM (Neth.) -
Mr. Cocker HCAW on Monday announced its new coachingstaff for the 2013 season.
On September 6, it was reported that it had separated with this years coaches Rudy Dirksen and Hubert Bomba.
40-year old Venezuelan Ivan Rodriguez has been named as the team's new Head Coach, succeeding Dirksen.
Josť Baez (35), who is from the Dominican Republic will be his 1B Coach, while Belgian John Debbaut (44) has been named Bench Coach, making this an international coachingstaff.
A Pitching Coach will be named later.
After a playing career in Venezuala, Ivan Rodriguez focuses on coaching since 1994, especially in coaching infielders.
In 2000, he set up a winter-program in Venezuela to prepare infielders for the next season.
Since 2011, Rodriguez is involved in player development in the Netherlands as a coach of Scimitars, which is one of the Baseball Academies and is situated in the center of the country,
Rodriguez also was added to the coachingstaff of the Dutch National Junior Team.
This year, Rodriguez was one of the coaches of the Rookie Team of HCAW and also is involved with the Dutch National Cadets Team.
For his contributions to the development of talented players, Rodriguez last year won the Bill Arce Award, which was introduced last season and will be handed out annually to someone in the field of talent development.
John Debbaut, who played in Belgium for Hoboken Pioneers and Berendrecht Bears, coached youth teams at Almere '90 in the Netherlands.
The last two seasons, Debbaut was the Manager of the Scimitars and this season was one of the coaches of the Rookie Team of HACW.
Josť Baez played for 13 seasons for Dutch clubteam UVV, where he also coached several teams.
This year, Baez made his coaching debut with Scimitars.
