Final Four cancelled!

The Technical Commission of the European Baseball Confederation (CEB) has decided to cancel this years Final Four, which was tentatively scheduled for September 29-30.
Earlier this year, Rouen Huskies (France) and caffè Danesi Nettuno (Italy) qualified for the event by finishing in first and second place during the Qualifying Tournament in Rotterdam (Netherlands).
In Serravalle (San Marino), L&D Amsterdam Pirates (Netherlands) and Fortitudo Bologna (Italy) qualified.
While the CEB initially scheduled the Final Four to be played in the final weekend of September, finding an exact date (and site) proofed to be very difficult.
This due to conflicting competition schedules in the respective countries, but also scheduled All Star Games and the European Championship in September, which will be held in the Netherlands.
Besides that, the World Baseball Classic Qualifier will start shortly thereafter in Germany and and Italian Baseball Week is also scheduled.
L&D Amsterdam Pirates and Caffè Danesi Nettuno filed for candidacy to organize the Final Four.
The Technical Commission now will advice the CEB Executive Board to award the winners of the two qualifying tournaments with a Cup, being Nettuno and Bologna.
During the next meeting of the Technical Commission in September a change of the present European CUp-format will be discussed for 2013.
