Fifteen new players for UVV
Nederlands
VLEUTEN (Neth.) - UVV, which this season missed the Play-Offs by only three points, has added 12 new players to its roster for next season and also promoted three players from its Rookie Team. While not announced in its press release, at least eleven players are rumored to have left the club, including some experienced players.

Through announcements via their new clubs, it is confirmed that righthanded closer Derek Tarapacki, outfielder Danny Rombley (both Vaessen Pioniers), lefthander Kyle Ward (L&D Amsterdam Pirates), righthander Orlando Yntema (DOOR Neptunus) and righthander Sedley Karel (Mr. Cocker HCAW) have left UVV. Rombley, Ward and Yntema all played for the National Team this season. Also mentioned to have left, but not yet confirmed, are outfielders Brian Biezen, Shurty Tremus (both Twins), infielders Mitchel Koot and Lindell Finsy (both DSS) and pitchers Joep de Wit (Domstad Dodgers) and Timo van Ancum (ADO Lakers). On Thursday (November 1), UVV confirmed all these names, adding that outfielder Jeff Delfina also left, but it is not known where he will play next season.

Coming to Vleuten from Mr. Cocker HCAW is righthanded pitcher Dennis Burgersdijk. UVV added six young players who have played for the Dutch National Junior Team this year or in the past, being lefthanded pitcher Jerremyh Angela, righthander Ian Delemarre (both from L&D Amsterdam Pirates), pitcher Oscar Meuris, outfielder Jordan Illis (both RCH-Pinguïns), infielder Mike Bazuin (DOOR Neptunus) and outfielder Daan Cornelissen (PSV). Angela, Delemarre, Meuris and Illis played together in the past for the Amsterdam Pirates Rookies, while Cornelissen briefly played professionally in 2010-2011 in the Rookie League-team of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

UVV added Hylke van Viersen, Rossini Frolijk and Thomas Smits from its Rookie Team to its big league-roster.

Also new in an UVV-uniform next season will be Belgian third baseman Dennis De Quint (Hoboken Pioneers), who plays for the Belgian National Team, and American pitcher Chris Mezger, who this season played for Rouen Huskies in the French competition and participated in the European Cup Tournament. Also coming are outfielders Ferd van Stekelenburg (Almere '90), Rickey Daal (RCH-Pinguïns) and Joris van Ballegooy (Robur '58).

In a press release, UVV stated ,,that it has lost several important players, but despite that is optimistic for the future. Looking ahead to 2013, the club discussed the continuation of its multi-year policy that was installed four years ago. It quickly became clear that for 2013 a young and agressive playing team needed to be formed, supported by experienced and good (foreign) players to become a recognizable UVV. A team which offers the possibility of players to promote via its Rookie Team.''

,,Within this policy'', the release continues, ''a young and dynamic coachingstaff was named'', led by former pitcher Ferenc Jongejan, who will be assisted by Kevin Knollenburg and Pitching Coach Duko Jansen. ,,This staff searched for young, talented and ambitious players'', with the most of them having played for some of the Baseball Academy Teams in the past seasons.
