Nederlands
HOOFDDORP / BUSSUM / VLEUTEN / DORDRECHT (Neth.) - DOOR Neptunus appeared to lead comfortably with a 13-5 score in the seventh inning against Vaessen Pioniers, which then staged a 7-run rally to narrow the deficit to only 13-12. Neptunus then held on to the minimal margin to win.

With today's results, the current top-3 of Neptunus, Kinheim and Pirates took more distance from the fifth (and lower) places.

Vaessen Pioniers vs. DOOR Neptunus
At Hoofddorp, DOOR Neptunus trailed twice vs. Vaessen Pioniers, but then scored nine runs in the fifth and sixth inning combined to take an apparent comfortable 13-5 lead. But in the end, the Rotterdam-squad won by only one run, 13-12.

In the first inning, Pioniers scored three runs off of starter Orlando Yntema on an RBI-single by Danny Rombley, basesloaded walk for Kevin Dirksen and a wild pitch. Neptunus answered with four runs in the second at bat off of Josh Rickards, thanks to RBI-doubles by Rudy Van Heydoorn, Shaldimar Daantji and Gyenuar Lopez (2-run). The doubles by Daantji and former Pionier Lopez were back-to-back.

In the 3rd inning, Pioniers re-took the lead when Mark-Jan Moorman hit a 2-run homerun. The 5-4 lead lasted until the fifth inning when Neptunus rallied for six runs. Rafaël Jozefa then opened the rally with a 2-run double, which led to a pitching change. With the bases loaded, Adrian Anthony batted in three runs with a triple, which brought in another pitcher. Anthony then scored on a sac-fly by Daantji to make it 10-5.

The lead was increased to 13-5 in the next at bat on RBI-triples by Benjamin Dille and Shaldimar Daantji plus a wild pitch.

But then, the home team suddenly came back into the game with a 7-run rally on three pitchers. In the seventh, Quinn Tramm took over for Yntema in his first outing for Neptunus, but was greeted with a single by Phil Ortez. He then hit Dannny Rombley with a pitch and walked Vince Rooi to load the bases. A walk for Mark Duursma then brought in a run, which led to a change. Diornick Sanchez took over, but he gave up a 3-run triple to Mark-Jan Moorman and a sac-fly to Kevin Dirksen. He then walked the next three batters to load the bases and was replaced by Jorian van Acker. Phil Ortez then singled in the next run, while Jefferson Muzo (who returned into the line-up last Thursday) was eliminated at the plate when he also tried to score. Next, a single by Danny Rombley made it 13-12 and the bases got loaded again when Vince Rooi reached on an error. But three runners were then left behind when Mark Duursma flied out.

Pioniers was then retired in order by Van Acker in the eighth. In the ninth, closer Berry van Driel gave up an one-out single, but then a double play ended the game to secure the win.
