Dodgers clinch NLCS; Jansen secures win!
Nederlands
LOS ANGELES, California (USA) - Los Angeles Dodgers became the first of the four teams to advance to the next round of the Major League Play-Offs. On Monday-evening, the Dodgers won 4-3 vs. Atlanta Braves in Game 4 of the National League Division Series to win the best-of-five, 3-1. Juan Uribe hit a 2-run homerun in the eighth inning to give the Dodgers a 4-3 lead, then Kenley Jansen struckout the side in the ninth to secure the win.

With the win, the Dodgers clinched a spot in the National League Championship Series. In that best-of-seven series, the Dodgers will meet the winner of the series between St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates, which will be decided on Wednesday in Game 5. The Dodgers not only have to wait until Wednesday to learn who they will meet in the NLCS, they also will know then where they play. The NLCS opens next Friday with the first of two games at the highest seed team in the regular season. When the Cardinals win, the series opens in St. Louis, when the Pirates win, it opens in Los Angeles.

The Dodgers initially held a 2-0 lead after three innings, but the Braves came alongside in the fourth and took a 3-2 lead in the seventh. Uribe's homerun in the eighth turned the game around again in favor of the Dodgers.

In the bottom of the first inning, the Dodgers opened the score when Carl Crawford led off with a homerun on the fifth delivery by Atlanta-starter Freddy Garcia. In the third inning, Crawford homered again, this time with one out, to make it 2-0.

Atlanta tied the score in the fourth inning off of Clayton Kershaw. Freddie Freeman led off with a single, then an error was made on a force play-grounder by Evan Gattis. A wild pitch moved the runners to the next base, but then Brian McCann struckout. Next, Chris Johnson singled to bring in Freeman. Andrelton Simmons then grounded to third resulting in a force out at second base, but Gattis scored the tying run.

In the seventh inning, Ronald Belisario took over the pitching for Kershaw. Lead-off hitter Andrelton Simmons grounded out, but then Elliot Johnson tripled. And he put Atlanta ahead 3-2 when José Constanza followed with a single.

In the top of the eighth inning, Brian Wilson became the fourth pitcher for the Dodgers. 'The Beard' struckout the first two batters he faced, then gave up singles to Chris Johnson and Andrelton Simmons, but they were left behind. In the bottom of the eighth inning, David Carpenter became the new pitcher for the Braves, who gave up a lead-off double to Yasiel Puig. Next batter Juan Uribe then fouled off two bunt-attempts, but with the count at 2-2, he cracked the fifth delivery of Carpenter into leftfield for a 2-run homerun that gave the Dodgers a 4-3 lead. And it proved to be the game-winner. With this, Uribe made a winning pitcher of Wilson. In 2010, the two played together for San Francisco Giants, which then won the World Series.

Leading 4-3, Kenley Jansen took over the pitching for the Dodgers in the top of the ninth inning. The closer from Curaçao, who participayed with the Dutch National Baseball Team in the World Baseball Classic in March of this year, again had a great outing. The former catcher struckout all three batters he faced to seal the win and earn a save.
