Top-4 set for Play-Offs East Asian Games
TIANJIN (China) - The top-4 is set for the Play-Offs of the baseball-tournament of the 6th East Asian Games in the Chinese city of Tianjin.

The preliminary round ended on Saturday (October 12) with three games. Leader Japan, which was 5-1, had no game scheduled.

South Korea won 5-3 vs. Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) to also finish with a 5-1 record. But as Japan had won the head-to-head game, the Koreans ended in second place with the Japanese taking first.

Host China won big vs. Guam with a 19-4 score to eliminate the island-team for the Play-Offs. With this China ended in a tied with Taipei, but finished in third place after having won the head-to-game.

Hong Kong won its first game of the event with a 21-0 shutout vs. Mongolia, which therefore finished in last place. Mongolia, where baseball is being played since the early nineties, scored only one run in the six games played.

On Sunday, Japan now will meet Taiwan in the Play-Offs, while host China meets South Korea.
