Dutch Team closes with shutout vs. China; Profar pulls out
SCOTTSDALE, Arizona (USA) - The Dutch National Baseball Team closed its series of exhibition games in Arizona on Tuesday-afternoon with a 9-0 shutout-win vs. China. The Dutch Team played six games, winning five of them as part of its preparations for the upcoming World Baseball Classic.

On Wednesday, the final 28-man roster has to be handed in. Dutch Manager Hensley Meulens has to make at least one change, as short stop Jurickson Profar announced he is not available for the event. Profar, who turns 20 on Wednesday, wants to focus on Spring Training with the Texas Rangers, where he hopes to make the Major League-roster for the upcoming season.

On Tuesday, the Dutch Team collected eight basehits in its final game against China, including homeruns by Kalian Sams and Randolph Oduber and two doubles by Nick Urbanus.

Three runs were scored in the first at bat. With one out, Nick Urbanus walked and Hainley Statia doubled, then Kalian Sams followed with a homerun that made it 3-0.

The fourth run was added in the third at bat when Urbanus walked again and this time scored on a sac-fly by Sams.

Two more runs were scored in the fifth inning. Danny Rombley led off with a single and then it was Randolph Oduber who homered. Urbanus followed with a double and Sams walked with one out, but then a flyout hit by Dwayne Kemp ended in a double play.

In the sixth inning, the lead was lifted to 8-0. With one out, Michael Duursma walked and Bas Nooij reached on an error, then both scored when Danny Rombley followed with a double.

The final run was scored in the ninth inning when Urbanus doubled with two outs and scored on a following single by Hainley Statia.

China hit only four basehits off of six Dutch pitchers.
