HAARLEM / VLEUTEN / THE HAGUE / DORDRECHT (Neth.) - There was no doubt that the weather conditions would influence today's games. It started raining early in the morning and in the end all four scheduled games in the Dutch big league were cancelled today (Saturday, May 10).

We now have three consecutive days with rain, resulting in a total of eleven cancelled games since Thursday.

Three of today's game were re-scheduled for Monday-evening, May 12, starting at 7:30 PM. The game between Corendon Kinheim and Mr. Cocker HCAW was re-scheduled for next Tuesday-evening. These two teams were able to play their make-up game on Friday and therefore had no game scheduled (yet) for Tuesday.

Unfortunately, the weather forecasts for Sunday are again unfavorable with a 90% possibility of rain. It will be unstable weather with a combination of some sun, but also rain, which can be accompanied by thunder in the afternoon. The weather for Monday and Tuesday also calls for rain with possible thunder, but there might be a chance that some games could be played on these evenings. From Sunday through Tuesday, eleven games are scheduled.

Today's cancellations combined with those of the last two days now result in adjustments of the various pitching rotations, as on Thursday, the opening game of the next 3-game series is scheduled. As of now, seven of the eight starting pitchers for Sunday's games have been announced. Most starters for Monday and Tuesday have yet to be named. That all depends on whether of not games can be played on Sunday.

UVV vs. Vaessen Pioniers

For the third consecutive day, the game between UVV and Vaessen Pioniers in Vleuten again was the first game to be cancelled due to the weather conditions.

The game is re-scheduled for Monday-evening.

As of now, Venezuelan Ricardo Hernandez Sanchez will start on Sunday for Pioniers at Hoofddorp. The lefthander was to be the starting pitcher on Thursday and moved with the game to Friday. After cancellation on Friday, Pioniers kept its rotation intact, meaning Hernandez would also start today, which was the original second game of the series. And now today's game also rained out, Hernandez will start on Sunday, which is original third game. This means, he probably will start next Thursday-evening again when Pioniers meets Mampaey The Hawks after three full days of rest. No starting pitchers have yet been announced for the make-up games on Monday and Tuesday in Vleuten, but Head Coach Robert Klaver might stick to his original rotation. This means that RHP Steven van Groningen and RHP Elton Koeiman will be the probable starters for the make-up games, but no decision has been made yet.

UVV had not announced its starting pitchers for this series, due to injuries. As of now, no announcements have been made yet for the upcoming games.

ADO Lakers vs. L&D Amsterdam Pirates

The game between ADO Lakers and L&D Amsterdam Pirates was cancelled early today, meaning Amsterdam didn't had to travel to The Hague today. The game is re-scheduled for next Monday-evening.

Initially, ADO Lakers sticked to its adjusted pitching rotation, which was announced on Saturday, meaning RHP Ibrahin Redan will remain the starting pitcher for Sunday's game in Amsterdam. RHP Jeremy Winkel and LHP Glenn Romney were then scheduled to pitch on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. Later on Saturday-evening, it was announced that the two starters for Monday and Tuesday were reversed. RHP Timo van Ancum probably will start Thursday-evening's opener vs. UVV.

As of now, Amsterdam Pirates will sent RHP Rob Cordemans to the mound on Sunday in Amsterdam, but no starters have been named yet for Monday and Tuesday. Cordemans also was scheduled to start the first game on Thursday and moved with the game to Friday. He then remained the starter for today, the original second game. This means, that Head Coach Charles Urbanus probably sticks with his original rotation and that RHP Kevin Heijstek and RHP Jos de Jong might be the starters on Monday and Tuesday. But no decisions has been made yet and a coach-meeting is scheduled for later today. Cordemans is also the probable starter next Thursday-evening in the opener against Mr. Cocker HCAW and Pirates might even name a fourth starter for the coming days.

Mampaey The Hawks vs. DOOR Neptunus

At Dordrecht, the teams of Mampaey The Hawks and DOOR Neptunus were on the field again for the third day in a row. But around 12:30 PM, the decision was made to cancel the game due to the rain and the conditions of the field. The game is re-scheduled for Monday-evening.

Both Head Coaches adjusted their starting pitchers for the coming days.

RHP Quinn Tramm will now be the probable starter for The Hawks on Sunday in Rotterdam. RHP Evan Simons was the scheduled starter on Thursday, Friday and today, but he now might start one of the make-up games on Monday and Tuesday.

RHP Orlando Yntema was scheduled to start the second game of the series against The Hawks. LHP Diegomar Markwell was the starter for Thursday and moved with the game to Friday and then also would start today in the original second game. Markwell is now almost surely out of the rotation against The Hawks, as he will be the probable starter for the opening game next Thursday-evening against Corendon Kinheim. Yntema's start moved from Saturday to Sunday and he will remain the starter for that day. No decision has been made for the starters on Monday and Tuesday, but righthanders Floris Timmer (the scheduled Game 3 starter) and Misja Harcksen might be the candidates.

Corendon Kinheim vs. Mr. Cocker HCAW

At Haarlem, the game between Corendon Kinheim and Mr. Cocker HCAW was the last to be cancelled today. Initially, it was hoped that there might be a chance to play, but around 1:30 PM (30 minutes before the scheduled starting time), the umpire-crew cancelled the game due to the weather and field conditions. The game is re-scheduled for Tuesday-evening.

As these two teams succesfully made up their cancelled game of Thursday on Friday-evening, their pitching rotations might remain intact for the coming days. Kinheim confirmed that LHP Nick Veltkamp will start on Sunday at home in Haarlem, then RHP Glenn Wassink will remain the starter for the third game, which is now scheduled for next Tuesday-evening, also in Haarlem. With this RHP David Bergman, who started on Friday, remains in line to start Thursday's opener against DOOR Neptunus.

HCAW also confirmed that its sticks with the announced pitching rotation. Lefthander Ivan Granados therefore remains the starter for Sunday's game, while rookie RHP Maickel Rietel takes the mound on Tuesday.
