Starting Pitchers coming series
Nederlands
AMSTERDAM (Neth.) - On Thursday-evening, May 22, the second-to-last 3-game series begins in the first half of the 2014 season. And this series could produce the first two teams that qualify for the Play-Offs at the end of the season in September.

We have two interesting series these days, as the top-4 will meet each other.

League-leader L&D Amsterdam Pirates meets DOOR Neptunus, playing the first two games at home. Both teams can use their regular starting rotation and that means that RHP Rob Cordemans (Amsterdam) faced LHP Diegomar Markwell (Neptunus) in the opener on Thursday.

Second-placed Vaessen Pioniers meets Corendon Kinheim in the always interesting regional series between these two teams. Kinheim also is able to use its normal rotation and so, it will start with righthander David Bergman on Thursday. Pioniers also uses its regular rotation, but that has changed due to the recent rainouts. With that, Pioniers' next starter (on Thursday) now will be righthander Elton Koeiman, who initially was the third starter in the rotation. That means that the Hoofddorp-club will begin with its original first starter of the rotation coming Saturday, which is lefthander Ricardo Hernandez Sanchez. The series opens in Hoofddorp, then two games will be played in Haarlem in the weekend.

Another team that will use its regular rotation is Mr. Cocker HCAW, which meets ADO Lakers. Righthander Sander Helmendach will start for the Bussum-club on Thursday and faces righthander Timo van Ancum. ADO Lakers is using three pitchers, who already have made starts this season, but in another order again. The first two games are played in Bussum, the third in The Hague.

The fourth series is that between Mampaey The Hawks and UVV. The starting pitchers for these series have not yet been announced. The Hawks expects Venezuelan lefthander Danny Forte Salvador on Friday, but also added another pitcher to its roster. On Wednesday, American Eddie Oropesa Jr. arrived. He is the son of Eddie Oropesa, who pitched for Sparta-Feyenoord in the 2007 season. Cuban-born Oropesa Sr. pitched four seasons in the Major League for the Philadelphia Phillies (2001), Arizona Diamondbacks (2002-2003) and San Diego Padres (2004). The lefthander appeared in 125 games, all in relief, and was 8-4.
