Rick van den Hurk opens Korean season with win

Dutch pitcher Rick van den Hurk began his new season in the Korean Baseball Organization with a victory.
On Sunday (March 30), Van den Hurk was the starting and winning pitcher for the Samsung Lions against the Kia Tigers.
The Lions won 8-5.
On Saturday, the Lions opened the new season with a 2-1 loss vs. the Tigers.
Playing at home, the Dutch righthander threw the first five innings for the Lions, with whom he won the Korean championship last year, which was the third consecutive title for the team.
Van den Hurk struckout five batters, walked four and gave up three hits in his first start of the season.
At Daegu Stadium, in the first inning, Van den Hurk was supported with two runs, thanks to a 2-run homerun by Yamaico Navarro, but then gave up three himself in the third at bat.
However, the Lions got back on top in the bottom of the fourth inning when they rallied for four runs to take a 6-3 lead.
