In the opening game of the tournament, the pitchers of both teams held each other in balance, which led to six scoreless innings.
HCAW-starter Maickel Rietel struckout four batters and gave up only two basehits in the five innings he pitched.
In the first inning, Remco Draijer singled with one out, but was then forced out on a grounder Michael Duursma, who then was caught stealing.

In the second at bat, Kenny Berkenbosch led off with a walk and moved on a sac-bunt Jesse Aussems.
After Rashid Gerard was hit by a pitch, Amsterdam got two runners in scoring position after Patrick Bok grounded out, but both stranded.
Starting with Bok's grounder, Rietel retired eight batters in a row.
He then gave up a lead-off single to Gerard, but he stranded on second base when Rietel ended the inning with two strikeouts.
Amsterdam-starter Kevin Heijstek threw four scoreless innings and struckout six batters.
He saw HCAW get the bases loaded in the first inning, but he also held his opponent scoreless.
With two outs in the first inning, Roy Seltenrijch walked, then Jarreau Martina and Rowan van Hoek both singled to load the bases.
But Heijstek ended the threat with a strikeout.
In the second inning, Heijstek gave up a 2-out single to Brian Biezen, who was then forced out.
In the third and fourth inning, Heijstek struckout five of the seven batters he faced, while walking one.
Robin Schel took over for Amsterdam in the fifth inning.
Schel, who last season pitched for HCAW, retired the side against his former teammates.
In the top of the sixth inning, Steven van Groningen became the new pitcher for HCAW.
He gave up a lead-off single to Roelie Henrique, but he eliminated at second base when he tried to stretch his hit into a double.
In the seventh inning, Pirates scored its two runs.
With one out, Jesse Aussems walked, then moved to third base on a single by Rashid Gerard and scored on a following single by Patrick Bok.
The bases got loaded when Koen Nooij was hit by a pitch and the second run then was added when a grounder by Linoy Croes (who also played for HCAW last year) ended in an error.
This led to a pitching change, as Bob Klaarenbeek took over.
He saw Roelie Henrique into a double play, but Amsterdam had taken a 2-0 lead.
For Amsterdam, Daan Hendrix threw the last two inings in the 7-inning game.
In the sixth, he gave up a lead-off single to Roy Seltenrijch, who moved on a grounder and a wild pitch, but Hendrix closed with two strikeouts.
In the seventh, he walked Max Clarijs with one out and Emersson Paula with two outs.
A grounder then ended the game.
