Nederlands
DORDRECHT (Neth.) - Mampaey The Hawks led 2-0 after three innings on Thursday-evening (July 9) vs. HCAW. However, the team failed to hold onto the lead, saw HCAW come alongside in the next two at bats, then lost 4-2.

With this, The Hawks now has lost all its 17 home game so far.

HCAW was led tonight by Roy Berrevoets as Acting Head Coach. The former player and coach joined the coaching staff tonight, filling in for Ralph Milliard, who sat out an one-game suspension. Initially, Milliard was handed a 3-game suspension, but he appealed. On Wednesday-evening, the case was handled and brought back to one game.

(July 9)

HCAW got several baserunners in the first three at bats off of Kevin van Veen, but left three runners and trailed 2-0.

In the top of the first inning, Marciano Philippi walked for HCAW. With two outs, Emersson Paula also walked, but the two were left behind. In the second at bat, Rossini Frolijk and Jarreau Martina led off with singles, but a double play and grounder ended the inning. In the third, Gianni Frolijk walked with one out, but was caught stealing to end the at bat.

The Hawks opened the score with one run in the bottom of the first inning off of Sander Helmendach. Odion Gouverneur led off with a walk, moved on a grounder and a wild pitch, then scored on a 2-out single by Steven Wharwood. A single by Brian Raap followed, but the home team left two runners behind.

After being retired in order in the second, The Hawks added a run in the third and it was again Gouverneur who scored. This time, he led off with a single, stole second base, moved on a sacrifice bunt by Stephen Henson and scored on a single by Berend Ruben, who then stranded.

In the top of the fourth inning, HCAW got a run back. Emersson Paula led off with a single, then Rossini Frolijk walked with one out. With two outs, Max Clarijs delivered an RBI-single, but HCAW again left two runners.

In the next at bat, the Bussum-squad came alongside. Marciano Philippi led off with a single, advanced on a wild pitch and a sac-bunt by Gianni Frolijk, then scored the tying run on a wild pitch. Next batter Roy Seltenrijch then walked, which led to a pitching change. Evan Simons took over and ended the inning with two flyouts.

After giving up the runs to The Hawks, Helmendach held the team scoreless. He walked lead-off batter Jules Peters in the fourth, but then retired the next eight batters in a row.

In the top of the sixth inning, HCAW got the bases loaded with two outs, but failed to take the lead. HCAW left two more runners behind in the seventh inning, but then broke the 2-2 tie in the top of the eighth inning. The team then scored two runs off of José Moreno, who had taken over the pitching during the previous at bat. With one out and pinch-runner Peter van Doesburg at first base, the bases got loaded when Marciano Philippi reached on a bunt-single and Gianni Frolijk walked. A single by Roy Seltenrijch then gave HCAW a 3-2 lead. Next, Frolijk was forced out at third base on a grounder towards third by Emersson Paula, but that also enabled Philippi to score. A strikeout ended the inning, but HCAW now was leading 4-2.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Steven van Groningen had taken over the pitching for HCAW and then struckout the side. He also retired the side in the eighth, adding another strikeout. In the ninth, Van Groningen began with his fifth strikeout, then gave up a single to Jules Peters. He tried to stretch it into a double, but was eliminated at second base. A grounder followed to end the game.
