UVV got a fine pitching performance from Jim Ploeger, who struckout six batters and gave up only four hits in the seven innings he pitched.
When he left the mound, UVV was leading 8-1.
Initially, UVV was held scoreless in the first three innings by Tim Halderman, but then scored two runs in the fourth.
Lead-off hitter Joris van Ballegooy was hit by a pitch, then advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Jamie Verheyleweghen and a single by Tony Enos.
A sacrifice fly by Gilmer Lampe then brought in the first run.
After Enos moved on a single by Omar Williams, he scored when Brennan Nijhof doubled.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, DSS was retired in order, but the final out resulted in an injury.
With two outs, Tino van Ek hit the ball into short centerfield, where short stop Tony Enos and centerfielder Brennan Nijhof (who caught the ball) collided hard.
Enos stould up quickly, but Nijhof remained lying on the grass.
He had to be carried off and was transfered by ambulance to a hospital.
There, luckily, no serious injuries were diagnosed.
After a delay of 24 minutes, the game resumed and UVV added two runs in the top of the fifth.
Sam van Dijck led off with a single and Dennis Ribbens reached on an error.
With one out, Van Dijck scored when two errors were made on a grounder by Jamie Verheyleweghen.
Hereafter, Tony Enos added an RBI-single to make it 4-0.
A 4-run rally then followed in the seventh inning.
With one out, Tony Enos singled in a run, then the next one was scored on a basesloaded walk for Omar Williams.
A force play-grounder by Norbert Jongerius then led to the next two runs and made it an 8-0 score.
DSS then scored its lone run in the bottom of the seventh off of Ploeger.
With one out, pinch-hitter Shane Boeree singled and advanced on an outfield-error and a wild pitch.
He then scored on a sacrifice fly by Tino van Erk.
