David Bergman made his first start of the season for Kinheim.
The veteran pitcher struckout four batters and threw seven solid innings.
Initially, Bergman was to pitch only in relief this season, but if needed, he can also start.
That 'if needed' was today.
Bergman, who also is the Pitching Coach of Kinheim, initially was scheduled to start on Saturday.
He pencilled himself into the rotation, as Glenn Wassink is currently sidelined after being hit on his pitching-elbow a week ago by a line drive.
Last Thursday-evening, Tom Stuifbergen left in the fifth inning, while being bothered with a knee-injury.
Bergman then came on in relief and his start for this weekend switched from yesterday to today.
But with Wassink and Stuifbergen both sidelined, Bergman probably will see more action again as a starting pitcher.
Kinheim opened the score in the first inning off of HCAW-starter Maickel Rietel.
Kevin Moesquit led off with a walk and moved on a passed ball.
Niels van Weert then reached on an infield-hit, which kept Moesquit at second base.
Van Weert was then forced out on a grounder by Dashenko Ricardo, but when a throwing error followed trying to complete a double play, Moesquit was able to score the first run.
After being held scoreless in the next two innings, Kinheim added three runs in the fourth at bat.
Jeffrey Arends led off with a walk and Bryan Engelhardt doubled, then Dudley Leonora, Sven van der Sanden and Jasper Keijzer all followed with runscoring singles to lift the lead to 5-0.
In the fifth, Kinheim scored another run.
With two outs, Bryan Engelhardt reached on an error, then went on to score on a single by Sven van der Sanden.
But the team also left three runners behind.
Kinheim made it a 6-0 score in the sixth inning when Kevin Moesquit led off with a double, advanced on an error and scored on a single by Niels van Weert.
HCAW failed to do something back in the first inning.
Trailing 1-0, the team got the bases loaded with one out when Raoell Kortstam, Roy Seltenrijch and Rossini Frolijk all singled.
But then, Kortstam was forced out at home on a grounder by Emersson Paula and Frolijk was forced out on third base on a grounder by Rowan van Hoek.
HCAW then scored its first run in the bottom of the seventh inning, but at that time, it trailed 6-0.
In the seventh, Jarreau Martina led off with a double, then Rikkert Kempen singled with one out.
When an outfield-error followed, Martina scored.
In the ninth, HCAW scored its second run.
Lead-off hitter Rowan van Hoek reached on an error and Jarreau Martina walked.
With one out, an error followed on a force play-grounder by Rikkert Kempen, which loaded the bases.
Next, all runners advanced on a passed ball, leading to the run.
The bases were re-loaded when Brian Biezen walked.
Hereafter, with one out, Marciano Philippi struckout, but the third strike ended up on the ground.
Kinheim-catcher Dashenko Ricardo opted to throw the ball to first base to eliminate Philippi.
On the throw, Martina took off from third base trying to score, but he was then eliminated when first baseman Jeffrey Arends threw the ball back in time to Ricardo to complete a double play and end the inning and the game.
