After being retired in order in the first inning, The Hawks scored twice in the second inning and this time was able to hold onto the lead the entire game.
The Hawks was close to a home victory a few times, but each time ended up empty-handed.
In the second, off of starter Maickel Rietel, Jules Peters hit a ground-rule double with two outs, then the bases got loaded when Julian Goins and Brian Raap walked.
Amir Daou followed with a 2-run double to give the home team a 2-0 lead.
HCAW got one run back in the third inning off American pitcher Enoch Deaton, who picked off a runner on first base to end the first inning.
In the third, Max Clarijs led off with a walk and moved on a grounder by Rikkert Kempen.
He then scored on a following single by Marciano Philippi, who himself ended up on second base on an outfield-error.
Philippi then reached third base on an error, which was made on a grounder by Jelle Blaauw, but he next two batters were retired.
In the fourth inning, The Hawks added another run.
Amir Daou tripled with one out, then scored when next batter Chris Williams reached on an error.
After Odion Gouverneur singled, Steven van Groningen came in as new pitcher and ended the at bat with a double play.
After leaving two runners in the fifth inning, The Hawks struck with five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, including four with two outs.
In the inning, only one hit was registered, as the HCAW-defense fell apart and committed four errors, resulting in all five runs being unearned.
First, Amir Daou was hit b a pitch, who then moved on a sac-bunt by Chris Williams.
A throwing error on a grounder by Odion Gouverneur trying to eliminate Daou on third base then led to the first run in the inning.
With Gouverneur on second base and two outs, Berend Ruben walked.
The bases got loaded when another throwing error followed, this time trying to force out Gouverneur at third on a grounder by Steven Wharwood.
A single by Jules Peters then brought in two runners, but was also followed by a throwing error from the outfield to put runners on second and third base.
Next batter Julian Goins then reached on a fielding error, which accounted for the next two runs and lifted the lead for The Hawks to a commanding 8-1.
Hereafter, Tim Niekerk took over for Steven van Groningen.
His first delivery ended in a wild pitch, but also the third out.
Goins advanced to second base on the wild pitch, but then was thrown out when he also tried to reach third base.
After scoring once in the third inning, HCAW was held scoreless in the next three innings by Deaton.
HCAW left a runner on first base in the fourth, then was retired in order in the next at bat.
In the sixth, the lefthander gave up singles to Kevin Nieveld and Rossini Frolijk with two outs, but they were left behind.
Trailing 8-1, HCAW did something back in the top of the seventh inning, scoring three runs with two outs.
Marciano Philippi then walked and pinch-hitter Peter van Doesburg singled.
Hereafter, Roy Seltenrijch doubled in a run and Emersson Paula followed with a 2-run single to narrow the deficit to 8-4.
That led to a pitching change, as Laurens Oele took over for Enoch Deaton.
He was greeted with a single by Kevin Nieveld, but closed the inning with a strikeout.
Now leading 8-4, The Hawks rallied for six runs in the bottom of the seventh to reach a 10-run difference and end the game via the mercy-rule.
Three hits were registered, while two pitchers contributed with six walks.
Brian Raap and Amir Daou led off with walks, then a double-steal followed.
The bases got loaded when Chris Williams also walked.
Bob Klaarenbeek then took over the pitching for Niekerk.
The lefthander was greeted with a 2-run single by Odion Gouverneur, then walked Tim Roodenburg that loaded the bases again.
After striking out the next batter, Klaarenbeek walked Steven Wharwood that led to another run, then gave up a runscoring single to Jules Peters.
The struggling for the HCAW-pitching continued, as basesloaded walk for Julian Goins followed.
Hereafter, Brian Raap delivered a walk-off single that made it a game-ending 14-4 score.
