 UVV outscores DSS in final exhibition game

 HAARLEM (Neth.) -
On Sunday (April 12), UVV concluded its exhibition season with an 11-6 victory vs. DSS, whom they shutout the day before.
UVV outhit DSS 12-4, but also committed six defensive errors.
But despite that, DSS was unable to add more runs, as it left 12 runners behind, including six in scoring position.
With this game, the two teams concluded their preparations for the upcoming season, which opens on Thursday-evening, April 16.
DSS then will make its big league-debut, playing at home against neighbour Corendon Kinheim.
UVV will open its new season at L&D Amsterdam Pirates.
Both games begin at 7:30 PM.

It was DSS that opened the score with two runs in the second inning off of starter Jim Ploeger.
The Haarlem-squad left two runners in the first inning, but then scored two unearned runs with two outs in the next at bat.
Koen Halderman led off with a walk and stole second base.
With two outs, he scored when Mitchel Dautzenberg reached on an error.
The bases got loaded when Mark Smit also reached on an error and Sven Jongejans walked.
DSS then had the chance to take more distance, but added only one more run when Tino van Erk walked.
Three runners were left behind when a grounder ended the inning.

UVV came alongside in the top of the third inning off of starter Tim Halderman, who had struckout three batters in the first two innings.
In the third, he hit lead-off hitter Jordan Illis with a pitch, who then stole second base.
With one out, Brennan Nijhof walked, then a double steal followed.
Hereafter, Norbert Jongerius and Joris van Ballegooy delivered runscoring singles to tie the score.
UVV took the lead when it again scored twice in the fourth off of new pitcher Jorn van Ingen.
With one out, Omar Williams walked, then Thomas Smits doubled with two outs.
A single by Brennan Nijhof brought both runners across the plate to make it 4-2.
DSS scored another run in the sixth inning.
Joffrey Heus (walk) then scored on basesloaded walk with two outs, but DSS also stranded three runners.
UVV took more distance thanks to a 4-run rally in the seventh inning off of Kevin Bosch.
Rick Kuipers led off with a walk, stole second base and was awarded third base on a balk.
Joris van Ballegooy then also walked and stole second base.
A following single by Dennis Ribbens brought in both to make it 6-3.
Next, Gilmer Lampe also singled, then a grounder by Dennis De Quint and a 2-out single by Jordan Illis accounted for the next two runs.
Trailing 8-3, DSS scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
With one out, Mitchel Koot reached on an error and Koen Halderman singled.
A failed pick-off then led to a run, as did a following grounder by Joffrey Heus.
DSS then narrowed the deficit to 8-6 in the eigth when Sven Jongejans walked and scored on a double by Tino van Erk.
UVV added three more runs in the top of the ninth.
Dennis Ribbens led off with a single and scored on a double by Gilmer Lampe.
With one out, UVV made it an 11-6 score when Mike Bazuin hit a 2-run homerun.
