It was HCAW that opened the score with one run in the first inning off of starter Quinn Tramm.
Brian Biezen and rookie Gianni Frolijk led off with singles, then HCAW got the bases loaded when Roy Seltenrijch walked.
The run was then scored when Rossini Frolijk grounded into a double play.
HCAW got another runner into scoring position when Raoell Kortstam was hit by a pitch and stole second base, but a strikeout ended the at bat.
The Hawks was held scoreless in the first three innings by Sander Helmendach, who was supported with a double play in the second at bat.
But in the fourth, The Hawks came alongside.
Berend Ruben led off with a single, but was forced out on a grounder by Steven Wharwood.
With two outs, the latter scored on a double by Amir Daou, who was then left behind.
After scoring in the first at bat, HCAW was held scoreless by Tramm in the next five innings.
But the home team got a big chance of re-taking the lead in the fourth inning when it got the bases loaded.
Raoell Kortstam led off with a single and moved on a grounder by Rowan van Hoek.
Next, Jazon Allee walked and stole second base.
With first base open, it was decided to create a force play by walking Max Clarijs intentionally.
Tramm then followed by striking out Rikkert Kempen and a grounder by Brian Biezen ended the inning, leaving the bases loaded.

In the sixth, HCAW again got close to scoring at least once.
Raoell Kortstam led off with a triple, then Rowan van Hoek walked.
Next, Kortstam was eliminated at the plate trying to score on a grounder towards first base by Jazon Allee.
After Peter van Doesburg took over for Allee as pinch-runner, a double steal followed, but Van Hoek was caught stealing at third base.
Max Clarijs then walked, but this time the scoring threat ended when Tramm struckout pinch-hitter Aldrich Guzman.
The Hawks then scored what would be the decisive runs in the top of the seventh inning.
First, the team took a 2-1 lead when Brian Raap led off with a homerun.
Two outs followed, then Tim Roodenburg doubled.
He then scored the next run for The Hawks on a pinch-hit single by Julian Goins.
Now trailing 3-1, HCAW got a run back in the bottom of the seventh inning to narrow the deficit to 3-2.
Boyd Tuhumury led off with a walk, then José Moreno took over the pitching for Tramm.
He faced pinch-hitter Jarreau Martina, who hit a force play-grounder (which eliminated Tuhumury) and ended up on second base after a throwing error trying to complete a double play.
A groundout followed, but then Rossini Frolijk singled to bring in Martina.
Moments later, Frolijk advanced on a wild pitch and Raoell Kortstam walked, but a force out ended this scoring opportunity for HCAW.
After both teams left a runner in the eighth inning, The Hawks got a chance of adding an insurance run in the top of the ninth inning.
With one out, Gregory Trinidad walked and Tim Roodenburg singled.
But hereafter, Steven van Groningen, who had taken over the HCAW-pitching in the eighth, struckout Julian Goins and Stephen Henson.
And so, the suspense was building in the Bussum Baseball Valley.
Was The Hawks able to hold onto the lead and register its first victory?
Or was HCAW able to come back and turn the game its way after all?
It almost appeared that it would become the second option.
Kevin van Veen became the new pitcher for The Hawks and he began with walks Jarreau Martina and Roy Seltenrijch.
But then the highlight of the game followed.
Rossini Frolijk lined the ball to first baseman Berend Ruben for the first out.
Ruben then stepped on his base to eliminate Seltenrijch and got the ball in time to short stop Chris Williams on second base to complete a game-ending triple play, which secured the first win of the season for The Hawks!
What makes it even more interesting is that the ball caught by Ruben was his first defensive action in the game, as he entered the bottom of the ninth inning defensively as the new first baseman for The Hawks, after having been the designated hitter in the remainder of the game!
Oh, for-the-record, regarding the game officials, Technical Commissioner Willem Broertjes has seen both triple plays, as he also was assigned to the Kinheim vs. HCAW game last Saturday when HCAW turned its triple play.
