In the first 4½ innings, both teams kept each other in balance, as The Hawks was leading only 5-4 halfway the fifth inning.

In the top of the first inning, Borgerhout opened the score when the defense of The Hawks committed two errors. The home team came alongside in its first at bat. With one out, Stephen Henson walked, advanced on an errant pick-off and scored on a grounder by Berend Ruben.

Quinn Tramm, the starter for The Hawks, then held the Belgian opponent scoreless in the next two innings, giving up only one basehit. In the third, The Hawks scored its second run to take the lead. Chris Williams led off with a single, advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Henson and scored on a 2-out single by Steven Wharwood.

Borgerhout came alongside by scoring a run in the fourth off of new pitcher José Moreno, but The Hawks answered with three more runs in the home of the fourth to take a 5-2 lead. The three runs were scored with two outs. Kilian Jansen then walked and Louie Sienders singled, then Chris Williams followed with a runscoring single. A pick-off on first base then failled, enabling Sienders to score the next run and Williams went on to score on a wild pitch.

Again, Borgerhout was able to do something back and narrowed the deficit to 5-4 by scoring two runs on three hits in the fifth inning off of new pitcher Mitchel Berghmans.

Now leading only 5-4, The Hawks rallied for nine runs in the fifth inning off of Michel Offerman, a pitcher of The Hawks, who today pitched for Borgerhout, as did Jesper Krutzen. In the fifth, The Hawks collected only four basehits, including two by Tim Roodenburg. In the inning, 15 batters stepped up to the plate, six of them received a free pass, three via a walks, the other three after being hit by a pitch. With one out and the bases loaded, two runs were scored when an error was made on a grounder by Wijnand Ruben. The next seven runs were then added with two outs. The bases were the re-loaded when Louie Sieders was hit by a pitch. Hereafter, a fielder's choice-grounder by Chris Williams led to a situation in which three runs were scored to make it 9-4. Next, a walk and a hit batter followed, then Steven Wharwood then singled in two runs and Julian Goins followed with another single. A single by Tim Roodenburg and a walk for Wijnand Ruben then increased the lead to 14-4.

Borgerhout was then held scoreless in the next two innings by relievers Mitchel Berghmans and Jeldwin Orman.

The Hawks collected 15 basehits, including four by Tim Roodenburg and three by Chris Williams and Steven Wharwood. Williams also scored three runs.
