DSS got close to opening the score in the second inning when it got the bases loaded.
Lead-off hitter Ryan Miner was hit by a pitch, then Tino van Erk lined a hard single through the middle off of starter Kenny Van Den Branden.
The Belgian righthander then followed with two strikeouts, but walked Sven Jongejans to load the bases.
However, the inning ended with a grounder by rookie Tommy van der Sanden, who again filled in for injured short stop Mitchel Dautzenberg and made some fine plays this afternoon.
The team of DSS is a mix of young talent with players who have (some) big league-experience.
Today, that mix presented the fans at the cozy home field at the Pim Mulier Sportpark, neightboring 'big brother' Corendon Kinheim, with another attractive game.
After stranding a runner on second base in the third inning, DSS opened the score in the fifth at bat.
Sven Jongejans led off with a single, then moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt by Tommy van der Sanden.
Moments later, Jongejans scored the first run when a grounder by Mark Smit ended in a 2-base error.
Lex Leijenaar followed with a double that touched the rightfield foul-line to bring in Smit and make it 2-0.

In the meantime, Tim Halderman silenced the powerful offense of Neptunus.
The son of former big league-infielder Mike Halderman and nephew of former big league-catcher Gerlach Halderman did a great job.
In seven innings, he gave up only three basehits and saw Neptunus reach second base only twice.
There were some crucial moments, which could have turned the game the way of Neptunus, but in the end, the defense and pitching did the job for DSS.
In the first inning, Raily Legito doubled down the leftfield-line with two outs, but stranded.
In the third, Mourik Huijser singled with one out, but DSS then turned a double play.
In the fourth inning, Neptunus got two runners on base with two outs shen Gianison Boekhoudt walked and Dwayne Kemp singled.
With runners on first and second base, next batter Adrian Anthony popped up into foul territory, but the ball was then missed by catcher Levine Gabriëls.
The next pitch then could have turned the game, but Halderman struckout Anthony, meaning Neptunus left two runners behind. Mark Smit walked and Lex Leijenaar singled, which brought in Kevin Kelly as reliever for Van Den Branden.
He was greeted with a single into short rightfield by Mitchell Koot, which could have led to a basesloaded-situation and perhaps more runs for DSS.
However, Smit was waved home trying to score on Koot's hit, but ended up short and was tagged out at the plate.
Starting with the strikeout in the fourth inning, Halderman retired ten batters in a row.
With a 2-0 lead, and after the out at the plate avoided an extra DSS-run, Halderman returned to the mound in the top of the eighth and then gave up his fourth basehit, a lead-off single by Shurman Marlin.
Halderman was relieved by Max Ploegstra, who was greeted with a double down the leftfield-line by Shaldimar Daantji and when an error followed in leftfield, Marlin could score.
This led to another pitching change and closer Kevin Geestman took over.
A crucial play then followed.
With pinch-hitter Rien Vernooij in the batter's box, Geestman succesfully picked off Daantji on second base, who was then eliminated in a long rundown (145613).
Hereafter, Vernooij walked and advanced on a wild pitch, but Geestman then struckout pinch-hitter Christian Diaz and Benjamin Dille to end the inning.
In the top of the ninth, Geestman got two quick outs.
Dwayne Kemp then singled through the middle, where the ball jumped up just out of reach for Van der Sanden.
Moments later, Kemp stole second base, but then Adrian Anthony grounded out to end the inning and the game.
DSS recorded a nice victory and was complimented with that.
