Offensive Pioniers wins second game vs. Pirates
Nederlands
HOOFDDORP (Neth.) - Vaessen Pioniers outhit L&D Amsterdam Pirates 15-5 on Sunday-afternoon (May 17) to win 7-5 and register its second victory in two days against the Amsterdam-squad.

Veteran players Danny Rombley, Dirk van 't Klooster and Mark-Jan Moorman all collected three hits for the Hoofddorp-team, which decided the game in the fifth and sixth inning.

(May 17)

After three scoreless innings, it was Amsterdam that opened the score with one run in the fourth at bat off of starter Elton Koeiman. In the previous three innings, Amsterdam was retired in order in the first and second, then got the bases loaded in the third. With one out, Patrick Bok walked, Linoy Croes singled and, with two outs, Michael Duursma was hit by a pitch, but all stranded. In the fourth, Bas Nooij singled with two outs, then moved when Rashid Gerard was hit by a pitch and scored on a following single by Patrick Bok.

Pioniers left a runner in the first inning, then two more in both the second and third at bat off of starter Kyle Ward. The home team then struck with four runs with two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Kevin Weijgertse then doubled and scored the tying run on a following single by Max Draijer. A single by Daniel Fernandes brought Draijer to second base and he then scored when Danny Rombley also singled. A following single by Dirk van 't Klooster then led to two more runs and made it 4-1.

In the top of the fifth, Amsterdam came alongside immediately. Roelie Henrique and Michael Duursma began with walks, which led to a pitching change. Reggie Bomberg took over from Koeiman, but was greeted with a 2-run triple by Nick Urbanus. With one out, Urbanus scored the tying run on a sacrifice fly by Remco Draijer.

Pioniers recovered quickly and re-took the lead in the bottom of the fifth. Mark-Jan Moorman led off with a single and scored when an outfield-error with two outs followed on a single by Mark-Jan Moorman.

Pioniers then added two insurance runs in the sixth off of reliever Dennis Burgersdijk. With one out, Rombley doubled and Van 't Klooster singled, then a sac-fly by Vince Rooi and basesloaded single by Quintin De Cuba lifted the lead to 7-4.

Amsterdam was then able to score one more run in the seventh via a sac-fly by Kenny Berkenbosch, but stranded two runners. Amsterdam got a bigger chance to equaling the score again in the eighth when it got the bases loaded with two outs, but three runners were left behind when a flyout ended the inning.
