Amsterdam appeared to open the score early, as it got the bases loaded with only one out in the top of the first inning.
Roelie Henrique led off the game with a walk off of starter Rik Geestman, who then, with one out, also walked Kenny Berkenbosch and Bas Nooij.
But the three runners were left behind.
Amsterdam then did score its first run in the second at bat.
Lead-off hitter Jesse Aussems was hit by a pitch, but then Koen Nooij lined into a double play.
Next, Patrick Bok tripled and scored when Roelie Henrique reached on an error.
The second run was added in the third inning.
Kenny Berkenbosch and Bas Nooij began with singles, then advanced on a sac-bunt by Remco Draijer.
A sacrifice fly by Rashid Gerard then doubled the lead for Pirates.
Veteran righthander Rob Cordemans allowed only one batter to reach base in the first two innings, but then gave up two unearned runs in the third that tied the score.
With one out, Tommy van der Sanden and Mark Smit singled and advanced on a grounder by Lex Leijenaar.
When an error followed on a grounder by Mitchell Koot, both runners were able to score to make it 2-2.
After Koot had reached, Cordemans never ran into problems anymore and retired seven of the next eight batters (six in a row).
Amsterdam re-took the lead moments later and two relievers then completed the game.
Immediately after DSS had come alongside, Pirates answered with two runs in the fourth inning.
Koen Nooij led off with a double and Roelie Henrique singled.
A walk for Michael Duursma then loaded the bases.
The runs were then scored when Geestman also walked next batters Kenny Berkenbosch and Bas Nooij.
In the fifth at bat, Amsterdam added its next run.

After a pitching change, the bases got loaded when Koen Nooij singled and a run was then scored on a following walk for Patrick Bok.
The DSS-defense then make its second double play on a line drive by Roelie Henrique.
Another walk followed, but Amsterdam again left three runners behind.
The Amsterdam-squad also stranded three runners in the eighth inning, while DSS turned its third double play in the ninth inning.
Trailing 5-2, DSS was unable to do something back again in the remainder of the game.
It left a runner in scoring position in both the sixth and seventh inning off of reliever Tom de Blok, then reached base only one more time in the final two at bats off of Daan Hendrix.
