Kinheim strikes early vs. The Hawks
Nederlands
DORDRECHT (Neth.) - Corendon Kinheim scored six runs in the first three innings on Thursday-evening (May 21) en route to an 8-3 victory at Mampaey The Hawks.

The six runs were a welcome support for Scott Ronnenbergh, who made his first start of the season for Kinheim. The lefthander, who was used in relief in his previous games, walked seven batters in 5-plus innings and gave up two runs. He was pencilled in the starting rotation, as regular starters Glenn Wassink and Tom Stuifbergen are currently sidelined. However, Stuifbergen had made a relief-appearance in the previous series. Last season, Ronnenbergh made 18 relief-appearances in the regular season for Vaessen Pioniers after he had been released earlier in the year by the Seattle Mariners, where he had pitched professionally for four seasons in the minor leagues. Ronnenbergh did made one start last year, on August 30, but that came during the Play-Offs. He then pitched the first three innings of a game against his current team, Kinheim.

(May 21)

Kinheim struck early, scoring four runs in the first inning off of starter Quinn Tramm. Former Hawks-player Kevin Moesquit led off with a walk, then Mervio Gario singled and Dashenko Ricardo walked to load the bases. Dudley Leonora followed with a 2-run single, then a wild pitch resulted in runners on second and third base. A grounder by Jeffrey Arends and single by Sven van der Sanden then lifted the lead to 4-0.

The next run was added in the second inning. With one out, Moesquit tripled and scored on a single by Ricardo.

In the third at bat, Kinheim made it a 6-0 score. Calvin Martinus reached on an error with one out, then advanced on a 2-out single by Jochem Koedijk and scored on a single by Moesquit.

The Hawks reached base several times in its first innings. Scott Ronnenbergh walked the lead-off hitter in both the first and second inning, but the first one was left and the second forced out. In the third, the home team stranded two runners, then Kinheim turned a double play in the fourth. Two walks followed in the fifth, but the Kinheim-defense then turned another double play.

The Hawks then scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Berend Ruben and Steven Wharwood began with walks, then moved on a grounder. Hereafter, a grounder by Brian Raap brought in the first run and also led to a pitching change. Pim Walsma took over and accounted for the second run with a wild pitch, but The Hawks then left two runners behind.

The home team added another run in the seventh when Lejeune Francisca (who in the past played for Kinheim) led off with a single, advanced on an error and scored on a single by Berend Ruben. Kinheim got two runs back in the top of the eighth off of new pitcher Jeldwin Orman. Kevin Moesquit led off with a triple, then scored when Mervin Gario followed with a homerun to make it an 8-3 score.
