Today's game had a similar line score as on Saturday. Pioniers again took an early lead (3-0), but was unable to hold onto it. Kinheim then came alongside in the fourth inning.

For Pioniers, this was its third tie in a row during this exhibition season.

Next weekend, Kinheim plays two games against UVV, while Pioniers participates in the annual Van de Vegte Memorial at the site of De Hazenkamp in Nijmegen.

Early in the game, Pioniers rallied for three runs off of Kinheim-starter Glenn Wassink. A single and hit batter led to two baserunners, then Kevin Dirksen connected for a 2-run double to give Pioniers the lead. A following single led to runners on first and third base. Moments later, Dirksen scored the third run for the Hoofddorp-team on a grounder by rookie Paul Brands, who today caught the entire game for Pioniers. Last season, Brands played in the junior-squad of APPM Rabbits and won the Ron Fraser Award for the most promising youthplayer.

Veteran Elton Koeiman started for Pioniers and threw three fine innings, but then ran into problems in the fourth inning. Kinheim got on base and scored, leading to a pitching change. Swen Huijer took over, but Kinheim was able to score three runs to come alongside.

In the remainder of the game, both teams were unable to add more runs. Huijer threw a scoreless fifth inning, then Bayron Cornelisse held Kinheim scoreless in the sixth and seventh at bat. For Kinheim, Nick Veltkamp relieved Wassink and didn't gave up runs, as did David Bergman, who closed the game for the Haarlem-squad.
