Pioniers one-runs UVV in 10 innings
Nederlands
VLEUTEN (Neth.) - The game between UVV and Vaessen Pioniers on Tuesday-evening (June 23) remained scoreless for nine innings. In the tie-break, Pioniers scored the lone run in the game and won 1-0 in ten innings.

The game was originally scheduled for last Sunday, but then was cancelled due to rain and the field-conditions.

(June 23)

In the regular nine innings, Pioniers got only one scoring opportunity, which came in the sixth inning when the team got the bases loaded. In the remaining eight innings, the Hoofddorp-team didn't get a runner into soring position.

In its nine regular innings, UVV got three runners in scoring position, but failed to score.

Both starters went nine innings, which is not seen much the last few years. Elton Koeiman struckout eight batters and gave up only three hits, while Jurjen van Zijl struckout three and gave up four hits. Koeiman walked one batter, Van Zijl walked five.

In the first five innings, UVV turned three double plays.

Pioniers then got the bases loaded in the sixth. Taylor Clemensia led off with a single and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Daniel Fernandes. The bases got loaded when Dirk van 't Klooster and Danny Rombley both walked. Hereafter, an infield-fly followed, then Van 't Klooster was forced out at third base to end the inning.

Koeiman retired the first nine batters he faced. He then gave up a lead-off single to Jordan Illis in the fourth. After Illis advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Tony Enos, Gilmer Lampe flied into a double play.

In the fifth, Dennis De Quint led off for UVV with a single and moved on a sac-bunt, but stranded on second base.

In the sixth, for the third time in a row, UVV's lead-off batter reached on a saingle, this time Jamie Verheyleweghen. He also moved into scoring position on a sac-bunt and then stranded.

The lone run was then scored in the tenth inning.

In the top of the 10th, Jerremyh Angela took over the pitching for UVV. With Mark-Jan Moorman on second and Quintin De Cuba on first base, a bunt by Kevin Dirksen resulted in a force out on third base. After an infield-fly accounted for the second out, Taylor Clemensia singled, which was followed by an outfield-error. And that enabled De Cuba to score and give Pioniers an minimal lead.

Now leading 1-0, closer Bayron Cornelisse took over the pitching for Pioniers in the bottom of the tenth. The inning began the same at the top half of the at bat. Gilmer Lampe and Dennis De Quint were the baserunners, then the first was forced out on third base on a bunt by Mike Bazuin. A strikeout followed, then the bases got loaded when Norbert Jongerius walked. However, UVV left three runners behind, as the inning and the game ended when pinch-hitter Joris van Ballegooy flied out.
