DSS-lefthander Rik Geestman held Pioniers scoreless in the first four innings.
The team reached base in all these at bats, but was unable to score.
In the first inning, Geestman hit the first two batters he faced, Daniel Fernandes and Dirk van 't Klooster, but the three outs followed.
In the second inning, Kevin Weijgertse doubled with two outs, but was then eliminated trying to stretch it into a triple.
In the third, Fernandes walked and stole second base, then was left behind.
And in the fourth, Vince Rooi led off with a walk, but then was eliminated in a double play.
Herefater, Quintin De Cuba and Kevin Dirksen also walked, but both were left behind.
And how about DSS?
Pioniers-lefthander Ricardo Hernandez Sanchez retired the first eight batters he faced.
He then gave up a 2-out single to Joffrey Heus in the third, but he stranded.
In the fourth, Levine Gabriëls walked with two outs, but was forced out.
In the fifth, Tommy van de Sanden singled with one out and was left behind.
Pioniers then opened the score by scoring twice in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Taylor Clemensia led off with a single and Daniel Fernandes reached on a bunt-single.
With one out, a single by Danny Rombley brought in the first run, but Ferandes was eliminated trying to advance to third base.
Moments later, an error on a grounder by Vince Rooi accounted for the second run.
A 5-run rally followed in the sixth inning.
Quintin De Cuba led off with a double, which led to a pitching change.
Kevin Bosch took over for Geestman, but he was greeted with a single by Kevin Dirksen, then walked Kevin Weijgertse to load the bases.
A sacrifice fly by Taylor Clemensia followed and then a runscoring single by Daniel Fernandes.
An error on a grounder by Dirk van 't Klooster accounted for the next run and a single by Danny Rombley re-loaded the bases.
Next, Vince Rooi added a 2-run single that lifted the lead to 7-0.
After a flyout, De Cuba walked in his second at bat in the inning, which loaded the bases again.
It was then time to change pitchers again.
This time, Max Ploegstra took over and a flyout ended the at bat.
In the seventh, Pioniers added another run thanks to an error, but then home team also stranded three runnners.
DSS got its biggest scoring opportunity in the top of the sixth inning.
Trailing 2-0, Mark Smit led off with a walk and was awarded second base on a balk.
He then moved to third base when Sven Jongejans singled, but then three outs followed.
In its final three at bats, DSS reached second base only one more time.
That happened in the eighth inning off of reliever Dennis Buring, who pitched the final two innings for Pioniers.
