HCAW trails early, but wins to end losing streak
Nederlands
VLEUTEN (Neth.) - HCAW trailed 4-1 after two inings on Thursday-evening (June 25), but then held UVV scoreless in the remainder of the game. The Bussum-squad turned the game its way by scoring three runs in the sixth and seventh inning and went on to win 8-4.

With the win, HCAW ended a 6-game losing streak.

HCAW collected nine basehits, including three by two added players. Jelle Blaauw went 2-for-4 and Marciano Philippi was 1-for-3. Both also scored a run. As outfielder Peter van Doesburg is currently sidelined with an injury, the two were added to the roster from its Rookie League-team to be with the squad as extra players.

(June 25)

HCAW opened the score with one run in the first at bat off of starter Thijs Steenwijk. Raoell Kortstam, who was the lead-off hitter tonight, reached on an error, stole second base, advanced on a flyout and scored on a sacrifice fly by Kevin Nieveld.

However, UVV appeared to turn the game its way by scoring twice in both the first and second at bat off of starter Sander Helmendach.

In the bottom of the first inning, Joris van Ballegooy led off with a walk and moved to third base when a throwing error followed an one-out bunt-single by Gilmer Lampe, who himself ended up on second base. Van Ballegooy scored the tying run when Dennis De Quint grounded out. Lampe advanced to third base, then was awarded home plate moments later when a balk was called on Steenwijk.

UVV added two more runs with two outs in the second inning. With one out, Brennan Nijhof walked, then Norbert Jongerius singled with two outs. The bases got loaded when Joris van Ballegooy also walked. A following single by Tony Enos resulted in two runs and a 4-1 lead for UVV.

After being held scoreless after scoring in the first at bat, HCAW scored its second run in the fifth inning. Jelle Blaauw led off with a single. With one out, he scored when a throwing error followed on a bunt-single by Max Clarijs.

In the sixth inning, trailing 4-2, HCAW started to turn the game its way. It got the bases loaded quickly. First, Roy Seltenrijch and Kevin Nieveld singled, then an error followed on a force play-grounder by Emersson Paula and that led to a pitching change. Thijs Steenwijk was relieved by Kevin Noordzij, but his first pitch resulted in a baseclearing, 3-run double by Rossing Frolijk that gave HCAW a 5-4 lead.

In the seventh at bat, HCAW scored three more runs. Marciano Philippi and Raoell Kortstam first walked, then Roy Seltenrijch followed with a runscoring single and Kevin Nieveld added a sacrifice fly. When next batter Emersson Paula also walked, Jerremyh Angela took over the pitching, but he loaded the bases by walking Gianni Frolijk. A sacrifice fly by Jelle Blaauw accounted for the next run and lifted the lead to 8-4.

After scoring in the second inning, UVV stranded eight runners in the remainder of the game.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, trailing 5-4, UVV got into scoring position again. With one out, Joris van Ballegooy and Tony Enos walked. Hereafter, Sander Helmendach was relieved by Steven van Groningen, who then got a flyout and force out.

In the eighth inning, Van Groningen was supported by a double play. In the ninth, he walked a batter with two outs, but then ended the game with a strikeout.
