HAARLEM (Neth.) -
Kalian Sams has tranfered from Curaçao Neptunus to Corendon Kinheim and will play with the Haarlem-squad in the upcoming weeks before leaving to Canada.
A few days ago, the 28-year old outfielder signed a contract with the Capitales de Quebéc in the Independent professional CanAm League.
Sams will leave for Canada around May 10 and until then, he will play for Kinheim.
Sams was on the membership-list of Neptunus the last few years.
And while Sams was on the exhibition roster for Neptunus, he was not on the active roster for the regular season.
In the previous two seasons, he played for Neptunus during the Holland Series after having completed his professional seasons in respectively the USA and Taiwan.
The transfer is somewhat remarkable, as it comes after Neptunus finished a 3-game series against Kinheim, winning two of the games.
Sams was in the dug-out with Kinheim today in Rotterdam, but wasn't eligible to play yet.
Coming Thursday, Kinheim starts a 3-game series against L&D Amsterdam Pirates to be played on April 30, May 2-3.
A week later, Kinheim meets HCAW in three games, starting on May 7 and followed by games on May 9-10.
When the transfer is approved by the Dutch Federation, Sams will be eligible to play in these games.
Sams confirmed he will be with Kinheim coming Thursday-evening when the team plays in Amsterdam.
With the transfer, Sams also becomes eligible to play for Kinheim when the team qualifies for the postseason.
In March, Sams was one of the Dutch players who played with Team Europe in the Global Baseball Match in Japan.
Last year, he won the European Championship-title with the Netherlands National Team and captured the professional title in Taiwan with the Topco Scientific Falcons.
