Neptunus uses two innings to complete sweep vs. The Hawks
Nederlands
ROTTERDAM (Neth.) - Curaçao Neptunus used only two innings on Sunday (June 28) to score nine runs and complete a 3-game sweep vs. Mampaey The Hawks.

Neptunus won the game with a 9-1 score, but only two runs were earned, as The Hawks committed four errors.

Neptunus was outhit 9-8.

(June 28)

Orlando Yntema started for Neptunus and struckout ten batters in the seven innings he pitched and gave up seven basehits. In the second inning, the righthander gave up singles to Amir Daou and Kevin van Veen, but three outs followed.

Neptunus then rallied for four runs in the bottom of the second inning, which were all unearned. With one out, Adrian Anthony walked and Gyenuar Lopez reached on an error. An error on a sacrifice bunt by Shaldimar Daantji then led to the first run. After Daantji had stolen second base, the bases got loaded when Mourik Huijser walked. The second out was recorded when Lopez was forced out at home on a grounder by Stijn van der Meer. But then, three more runs were added when Dwayne Kemp walked and Benjamin Dille followed with a 2-run single.

Neptunus was held scoreless in the next two at bats by American pitcher Enoch Deaton. In the third, Neptunus left a runner on second base. In the fourth, Van der Meer led off with a single, but was picked off.

Neptunus rallied for five more runs in the fifth inning to increase the lead to 9-0. With one out, Rien Vernooij and Adrian Anthony singled, then the first scored when an error was committed on a grounder by Gyenuar Lopez. A single by Shaldimar Daantji accounted for the second run in the at bat, then the bases got loaded when an error followed on a force play-grounder by Mourik Huijser. The next run was then scored when Deaton walked Stijn van der Meer. Deaton was relieved by José Moreno, but he walked Dwayne Kemp and Gianison Boekhoudt, resulting in two more runs. A strikeout ended the inning, leaving the bases loaded.

Laurens Oele pitched the last two innings for The Hawks and retired six batters in a row.

The Hawks changed its outfield shortly before the start of the game. Odion Gouverneur was originally listed as starting rightfielder, but instead Brian Raap started in his place. In the bottom of the second inning, Raap was replaced himself by Kilian Jansen, who then played the remainder of the game in rightfield.

After leaving two runners in the second inning, The Hawks again stranded two runners in the fourth and fifth at bat. In the fourth, Kevin van Veen singled with one out and Louie-Jay Sienders with two outs, but they were left behind. In the fifth, with two outs, Berend Ruben singled and Julian Goins walked, but also stranded.

In the top of the eighth inning, trailing 9-0, The Hawks scored its lone run off of new pitcher Loek van Mil. With two outs, Van Mil walked Kevin van Veen, then gave up a single to Gregory Trinidad, followed by a runscoring single by Louie-Jay Sienders. Van Mil then closed the at bat with a strikeout. While leaving the mound, Van Mil clearly wasn't happy with the strikezone, argued and was ejected.

Berry van Driel then pitched the ninth inning and retired the side to end the game.
