Storks was retired in order in its first at bat by starter Tim Halderman, but then scored three runs on only one hit in the second inning.
Halderman walked lead-off hitter Luuk Visser, then gave up a double to Sergio Schoop.
After striking out rookie Brian van der Vlist, a force play was set up by walking Jurriaan Dijk intentionally to load the bases.
A force play-grounder, and maybe even double play-grounder, indeed followed.
Joey Schmook grounded to second base, but a throwing error followed and two runs were scored.
With runners on first and third base, another run was then added on a grounder by Philipp Brandl.
DSS then got a chance to do something back in the top of the third inning.
Mitchel Dautzenberg and Tino van Erk opened with singles.
With one out, the Haarlem-team got the bases loaded when Koen Halderman walked.
That led to an early pitching change for Storks, as Sem Lauf was inserted.
He got an inning-ending double play-grounder from Devano Pieter.
DSS got a run back in the top of the fifth.
With one out, Tino van Erk and Aldi Guzman both walked.
After Diamond Silberie was inserted as pinch-runner for Guzman, Koen Halderman delivered a single.
Van Erk scored and Silberie advanced, but overran second base on the throw to the plate, got into a rundown and was eliminated for the second out.
Halderman, who had moved to second base while Silberie was eliminated, advanced to third base on a wild pitch.
He stranded there, as Sem Lauf closed by striking out Devano Pieter.
DSS scored its second run in the sixth, but again a runner was eliminated while running the bases.
With one out, rookie Joris Timmer singled and Runai Coran walked.
The latter was forced out on a grounder by Koen Werkman.
With Timmer at third base, Werkman stole second base, but then was eliminated thereafter, while Timmer was able to score.
Leading only 3-2, Storks struck with three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to take more distance.
Again, only one basehit was recorded in this rally.
Storks got the bases loaded when Luuk Visser and Sergio Schoop began with walks, then Jurriaan Dijk was hit by a pitch with one out.
A run was then scored on a grounder by Joey Schmook and two runs were added when Philipp Brandl followed with a single.
DSS left another runner behind in scoring position in the seventh.
With one out, Tino van Erk walked and moved on a wild pitch, then advanced to third base on a grounder, but was left behind.
When Johnny Schmook led off the bottom of the seventh inning for Storks with a single, a pitching change followed.
Sander Helmendach took over the DSS-pitching, but he got the bases loaded with one out, when he walked Luuk Visser (third time) and Sergio Schoop (second time).
The righthander followed with a strikeout, then a flyout ended the at bat.
Storks also left three runners behind in the eighth inning.
Joey Schmook led off with a walk, then Kevin Nieveld singled with one out and Giovanny Perez walked with two outs.
The inning closed with a force play-grounder.
In the top of the ninth, DSS managed to score another run to narrow the deficit to 6-3.
With one out, Mitchel Dautzenberg hit a triple and scored on a grounder by Tino van Erk.
Hereafter, Sem Lauf walked Diamond Silberie.
The inning and the game then ended when second baseman Kevin Nieveld caught a line drive hit by Koen Halderman.
