AMSTERDAM (Neth.) -
Game 2 of the 3-game series between L&D Amsterdam Pirates and Curaçao Neptunus, scheduled to be played on Saturday, September 12, has been postponed out of precaution due to a possible case of the coronavirus.
The game is part of the opening series of the second half of the season.
The two best teams of this Pool will advance to the Holland Series.
On Thursday-evening, Neptunus opened with a come-from-behind 7-4 win.
On its website, Amsterdam Pirates placed the following statement today (Friday, September 11):
,,The playoff game L&D Amsterdam - Neptunus on Saturday, September 12 has been postponed to Tuesday, September 15.
Three players from our selection have symptoms that could indicate corona.
Until test results are available, they remain in home quarantine, in accordance with the applicable protocol.
Since there is a possible relationship between the three incidents in the team, we want to exercise extreme caution.
Therefore, at the request of Amsterdam Pirates, the KNBSB has decided to postpone Saturday's game.
Tickets for the match remain valid.''
The double-header of the women's softball-team of Amsterdam Pirates at Sparks Haarlem in the Golden League, which was also scheduled for Saturday-afternoon, also has been postponed.
Last month, three games of Hoofddorp Pioniers were postponed due to a case of the coronavirus.
Back then, two games of Pioniers against Silicon Storks and one game against L&D Amsterdam Pirates were re-scheduled.
Also, two games of the second team of Pioniers against the second team of Twins Oosterhout were then postponed.
