AMSTERDAM (Neth.) -
L&D Amsterdam Pirates announced tonight (Saturday, September 12) that the scheduled game for Sunday, as well as the make-up game on Tuesday against Curaçao Neptunus have been postponed due to a case of the coronavirus.
The club announced that two persons have been tested positive.
Of course, for privacy-reasons, the names will not be announced.
On Friday, the club announced that Saturday's game had been postponed out of precaution due to a possible case of the virus.
The game, which was the second of the 3-game opening series of the second half of the season, was postponed to Tuesday-evening.
But now, Sunday's Game 3, as well as Tuesday's re-scheduled game have been removed from the schedule.
New dates have not yet been announced.
The two teams opened their series on Thursday-evening.
Neptunus then came-from-behind to win 7-4.
The two best teams of the Top-4 Pool will advance to the Holland Series.
On its website, Amsterdam Pirates placed the following statement tonight (Saturday, September 12):
,,Games L&D Amsterdam - Neptunus postponed due to corona.
Unfortunately, two people tested positive for the coronavirus at L&D Amsterdam.
This means that source- and contact-research is now being carried out by the GGD.
Until it is known what the advice of the GGD is, L&D Amsterdam will not come together.
Therefore, tomorrow's and Tuesday's game against Neptunus will be canceled.''
On Saturday, the double-header of the women's softball-team of Amsterdam Pirates at Sparks Haarlem in the Golden League, also had been postponed.
Last month, three games of Hoofddorp Pioniers were postponed due to a case of the coronavirus.
Back then, two games of Pioniers against Silicon Storks and one game against L&D Amsterdam Pirates were re-scheduled.
Also, two games of the second team of Pioniers against the second team of Twins Oosterhout were then postponed.
