Neptunus collected thirteen basehits, including three homeruns, made no errors, two pitchers gave up only three basehits and so, the team encountered no problems in completing its 3-game sweep against Quick Amersfoort.
Neptunus opened the score with two runs in the top of the first inning off of starter Jhan Rifaela.
Lead-off hitter John Polonius reached on an error and moved on a passed ball with one out.
Moments later, he scored when Dwayne Kemp homered.
In the next three innings, Neptunus got five more baserunners off of Rifaela, but was unable to score.
With one out in the second, Jarreau Martina singled, but was caught stealing.
In the third inning, Benjamin Dille singled with one out and Gianison Boekhoudt walked with two outs, but both were left behind.
And in the fourth inning, with two outs, Jarreau Martina walked and Coco Johnson singled.
They also stranded on the bases.
Neptunus then doubled its lead in the top of the fifth.
Benjamin Dille led off with a walk and then Dwayne Kemp followed with his second homerun in the game.
This was his fourth homerun of the season.
Kemp is the third player this season to hit two homeruns in one game.
The others are L&D Amsterdam Pirates-outfielders Gilmer Lampe and Kalian Sams.
Last season, Neptunus-catcher Gianison Boekhoudt hit two homeruns in one game twice.
After Kemp had homered, the next three batters were retired in order.
Neptunus added another run in the sixth inning.
Darryl Collins led off with a single, which led to a pitching change.
Jan-Willem Geerts took over for Jhan Rifaela.
He saw Collins steal second base, but also struckout hit first batter.
Hereafter, Geerts gave up a runscoring single to Coco Johnson, who later was eliminated in a double play.
Neptunus got into scoring position again in the seventh inning.
Benjamin Dille and Dwayne Kemp led off with a single.
Two flyouts followed, then Geerts closed by striking out Dudley Leonora.
He argued the strikeout-call and was ejected by Home Plate Umpire Niek Elshof.
In the eighth inning, Neptunus scored its sixth run in tonight's game when Gregory Muller led off with his first homerun of the season.
Muller had just entered the game in the bottom of the seventh as the new leftfielder for Neptunus.
With two outs in the top of the ninth, Neptunus got into scoring position again when Gianison Boekhoudt and Dashenko Ricardo both singled.
The inning ended when Stijn van der Meer (who had replaced Leonora) flied out.
Neptunus-starter Kaj Timmermans encountered no problems and got only two baserunners in the seven innings he pitched.
The righthander retired the first eight batters in a row.
He then walked Joran Berkhout (who started the season with Neptunus) with two outs in the third inning, but a grounder ended the at bat.
After Berkhout's walk, Timmermans retired the next seven consecutive batters.
He then gave up a lead-off double to Emeron Lourens in the sixth inning.
That not only was Quick's first basehit in the game, it also was the only time the team got into scoring position off of Timmermans.
With Lourens on second base, Timmermans struckout Joran Berkhout.
Next batter Denzel Brooks flied out and Ademar Rifaela also struckout, which ended the inning.
In the seventh, Timmermans gave up a lead-off single to Rachid Engelhardt, but he was eliminated in a double play on a grounder by next batter Roger Bernadina.
Kevin Kelly took over the Neptunian pitching in the eighth and retired the side.
In the ninth, he gave up Quick's lone run.
Joran Berkhout led off for Quick with a walk.
With one out, Ademar Rifaela singled.
A wild pitch gave Quick runners at second and third base.
Moments later, Berkhout scored on a grounder by Rachid Engelhardt, but hereafter, Kelly ended the game by striking out Roger Bernadina, who played in his first game in the highest Dutch league in 18 years!
