It was Hoofddorp Pioniers that opened the score tonight, but Amsterdam Pirates turned the game around from the third inning on.
Pioniers scored what would be its lone run with one out in the top of the first inning off starter Nick Veltkamp.
With one out, the lefthander gave up a triple to Raul Jacobs, who then scored on a following wild pitch.
Pioniers got its next scoring opportunity in the fourth, but at that moment the team trailed 2-1.
Pioniers-starter Lars Broersen encountered no problems in the first two innings, but then gave up two runs in the bottom of the third inning.
The righthander then got the bases loaded quickly when he gave up a lead-off single to Mick Vos, walked rookie Thomas Kwakernaak and saw Roelie Henrique reach on a bunt-single.
Next batter Gilmer Lampe grounded into a double play, but that enabled Vos to score the tying run.
Kwakernaak then scored on a following single by Denzel Richardson.
With one out in the top of the fourth, Randolph Oduber and Tyler Boersma singled for Pioniers.
However, Oduber was then eliminated in a double play at second base after Denzel Brooks had flied out to centerfield.
The home-team added an unearned run in the fourth.
With one out, Max Clarijs walked, which was followed by a pitching change.
Lefthander Sebastian Kok took over, but he gave up a single to Raydley Legito.
A pick-off attempt then ended in a throwing error, which enabled Clarijs to score.
Pirates scored another unearned run in the fifth.
With two outs, Denzel Richardson tripled, then scored when an outfield-error followed.
Pioniers got its first two batters on base in the sixth inning off of rookie Jelle van der Lelie, who made his debut in the highest league.
The righthander gave up singles to Mark Smit and Raul Jacobs, but then struckout veteran player Randolph Oduber.
The two runners advanced on a grounder, but were left behind on second and third base.
Van der Lelie retired the side in the seventh.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Pirates was retired by rookie Lucca van der Schouw.
The lefthander, who made his big league-debut on Saturday, struckout two of the three batters he faced.
Nick Winkel became the new pitcher for Pioniers in the seventh, but he gave up two additional runs.
The righthander walked lead-off hitter Thomas Kwakernaak, then gave up a single to Roelie Henrique.
With one out, Denzel Richardson and Kenny Berkenbosch hit back-to-back runscoring doubles.
With that, Richardson had now hit a single, triple and double.
However, he would miss the homerun to hit for-the-cycle.
With Richardson and Berkenbosch on third and second base, Rashid Gerard was hit by a pitch.
Another pitching change followed and rookie Matthijs Oosterbeek took over with the bases loaded.
He got an infield-fly and an inning-ending grounder, but Amsterdam Pirates now led 6-1.
In the top of the eighth, Pioniers got two baserunners with one out when new pitcher Gio de Graauw walked Bodhi de Vreede and Raul Jacobs.
They stranded on first and second base.
The home-team scored two more runs in its eighth off of Matthijs Oosterbeek.
Mick Vos led off with a walk and Thomas Kwakernaak singled.
With one out, Vos scored on a single by Emilson Haswell, who had replaced Gilmer Lampe in the outfield in the fifth inning.
Lampe had left the game with a groin-injury.
Haswell's hit was followed by an outfield-error, which brought Kwakernaak to third base.
He then scored on a grounder by Denzel Richardson.
Mike Groen closed the game for Pirates by pitching the ninth inning.
He saw Reangelo Willems, who led off as pinch-hitter, reach on an error.
With one out, Groen walked Thom Hoogkamer, but then closed the game with two strikeouts.
