In tonight's opening-game, Quick Amersfoort led 3-1 halfway the third inning, erased a 4-3 deficit, led 5-4 halfway the seventh inning, but ended up empty-handed, as Hoofddorp Pioniers then added six more runs en route to a 10-6 victory.

The game also was one between two debuting Head Coaches, Jasper de Jong at Pioniers and Elton Koeiman at Quick.
In the previous few seasons, Koeiman has been a Pitching Coach at Neptunus and Twins Oosterhout, but tonight, he made his debut as Head Coach.
After last season, De Jong was named as successor of Mervin Gario, who this season is the Head Coach of Amsterdam Pirates.
Koeiman succeeded Marlon Frolijk.
A lot of players left Pioniers after last season.
With that, the team has a lot of young and sometimes inexperienced players on its roster for this season.
The young team of Hoofddorp Pioniers collected thirteen basehits tonight, including three by newcomer Daan Terstall, who also homered and batted in five runs.
Terstall came to Hoofddorp from UVV.
In 2020, the first baseman played in six big league-games for DSS/Kinheim.
Quick produced seven basehits tonight.
But the team recorded the first run scored in this years big league-season, as well as hitting the first homerun.
With two outs in the top of the first inning, Quick scored twice off off Pioniers-starter Sem Lauf.
He walked lead-off hitter Amar van Zwieten, but a strikeout and flyout followed.
Hereafter, Van Zwieten advanced on a passed ball, then scored on a double by Ibrahin Redan.
With that (at 7:35 PM), Van Zwieten scored the first run in the 2023 big league-season.
Next batter Marvin Jakobus also doubled to bring in Redan and make it a 2-0 score.
Pioniers, which was retired in order in its first at bat by starter Jack Wagner, cut the deficit in half in the second inning, but also left two runners behind.
With one out, debuting Vincent Mevissen doubled in his first big league at bat.
He then moved to third base on a single by Michael Dumitrescu.
The latter was forced out on a grounder by Daniel Heiligers, but that also enable Mevissen to score.
Hereafter, it was the also debuting Max Vonk, who connected for a single in his first at bat.
But with runners on first and second base, a flyout ended the at bat.
In the top of the third, Quick added another run when Joshbert José Ponte Manganiello led off with a homerun, which was the first one hit in the 2023 big league-season.
For-the-record, Ponte connected at 8:01 PM.
The next three batters were retired in order.
In the bottom of the third, Pioniers came alongside, also thanks to a homerun.
Bodhi de Vreede, one of the few left-over players after last season, led off with a double and moved to third base on a sacrifice bunt by rookie Terrance Heemskerk.
With two outs, it was Daan Terstall who connected well and hit a 2-run homerun, which made it a 3-3 score.
In the next at bat, it was Pioniers that took the lead for the first time.
Michael Dumitrescu then led off with a single, advanced on a grounder, then moved to third on a single by Max Vonk and scored on a sacrifice fly by Miquel Willem, to put Pioniers ahead, 4-3.
This time, it was Quick that came back and tied the score in the fifth inning.
With one out, Amar van Zwieten reached on an error and with two outs, Pascal Zegwaard walked, then Ibrahin Redan followed with a runscoring single.
In the top of the seventh, Quick took the lead for the second time.
With one out, Amar van Zwieten this time reached on an infield-hit and Joshbert Ponte walked.
Moments later, Van Zwieten stole third base, then scored on a following single by Pascal Zegwaard.
With Quick now leading 5-4, Kaien Oukes was inserted as new pitcher for Pioniers and he closed the at bat by striking out the next two batters.
The lead was shortlived, as Pioniers answered with a 4-run rally.
Quick-reliever Joel Martis, who had come on in the previous at bat, got the bases loaded quickly.
After he had walked lead-off hitter Bodhi de Vreede, Martis gave up singles to Terrance Heemskerk and Duncan Beljaards.
With the bases loaded, Daan Terstall grounded the ball towards short.
Short stop Josberth Ponte came in, fielded the ball and threw it to catcher Lars Visser, but De Vreede slid into home plate in time to score the tying run.
And that also kept the bases loaded.
Vincent Mevissen followed with a 2-run single to put Pioniers ahead for the second time.
With runners at first and third base, Martis struckout the next two batters, but then Terstall scored on a throwing error after Mevissen had stolen second base.
Martis then closed with his third consecutive strikeout, but Pioniers now led 8-5.
Pioniers added two more runs in the eighth inning off of new pitcher Deef van Leersum.
With two outs, Terrance Heemskerk doubled and Duncan Beljaards walked.
Both scored when Daan Terstall followed with a double.
Quick, which had left a runner behind in the top off the eighth, scored one more run in the ninth.
Josberth Ponte led off with a walk, moved on a wild pitch an a grounder, then scored on a sacrifice fly by Ibrahin Redan, but a pop-fly then ended the inning and the game.
