Game 2 between Quick Amersfoort and Hoofddorp Pioniers remained scoreless in the first four innings.
The two lefthanded starters, Jhan Rifaela (Quick) and Maarten Smit (Pioniers) gave up basehits, got baserunners, but didn't allow a run.
It was Pioniers that got a big opportunity to open the score in the top of the second inning when it got the bases loaded.
Daan Terstall led off with a single and with one out, Michael Dumitrescu walked and Andreas Meijer singled.
But they were left behind, as two flyouts followed.
In the third inning, Pioniers got another runner on third base.
Lead-off hitter Bodhi de Vreede was hit by a pitch, advanced on a grounder by Terrance Heemskerk and stole third base with two outs.
Jhan Rifaela then closed the at bat by striking out Daan Terstall.
Maarten Smit, who made his big league-debut, gave up a lead-off single to Amar van Zwieten in the bottom of the first inning, but then struckout the next two batters.
A flyout ended thet at bat.
In the second inning, Smit again gave up a lead-off single, a comeback infield-hit by Marvin Jakobus.
Smit again followed with a strikeout, then a double play ended this inning.
Quick got a runner in scoring position for the first time in its third at bat.
With one out, Jordy Burger and Amar van Zwieten singled.
Moments later, Smit picked off Burger at second base, then a force play ended the inning.
Smit was successful again in the bottom of the fourth.
This time, he gave up another lead-off single, hit by Pascal Zegwaard, then walked next batter Ibrahin Redan.
After a flyout accounted for the first out, Smit closed by striking out Irving Redan and Kai Berkel to bring his total to six.
From the fifth inning on, both teams finally were able to cross home plate.
Pioniers opened the score in the top of the fifth.
With two outs, Bodhi de Vreede singled and scored when Terrance Heemskerk followed with a double.
But in the bottom of the fifth, Quick answered with three runs and this time, Smit was less successful, as the defense also committed two errors.
For the fourth time in five innings, the lefthander gave up a lead-off single, recorded by Lars Visser.
Jordy Burger followed with a bunt-single.
Next batter Amar van Zwieten also delivered a single and when that was followed by an outfield-error, Visser scored.
With runners on second and third base, an attempt for a sacrifice bunt by Joshbert José Ponte Manganiello appeared to end in a force play at third base.
But an error was made and the bases got loaded.
Due to the error on the force play, Ponte was not credited with a sac-bunt.
Moments later, Burger scored when Ponte was forced out at second base on a grounder by Pascal Zegwaard.
A third force play-situation followed on a grounder by next batter Ibrahin Redan.
This led to the force out of Zegwaard at second base, but Van Zwieten scored to make it a 3-1 score.
The inning wasn't over yet, as Marvin Jakobus then singled and Quick got runners on second and third base via a wild pitch.
Maarten Smit then closed with his seventh strikeout.
Quick's lead was shortlived, as Pioniers came alongside in the top of the sixth.
After Daan Terstall had led off with a walk, Riley Gonesh took over the pitching from Jhan Rifaela.
Gonesh, who last season played in the First Division for Wassenaar, got the bases loaded when he walked Vincent Mevissen and Michael Dumitrescu.
A force play-grounder from Andreas Meijer followed, Dumitrescu was eliminated, but Terstall scored.
Hereafter, Mevissen scored the tying run on a grounder by Max Vonk.
With the score now at 3-3, Alden Stacie became the new pitcher for Pioniers in the bottom of the sixth.
Stacie, who last season played for Quick, began by walking lead-off hitter Kai Berkel, but he was later forced out.
In the top of the seventh, Pioniers broke the tie with a 3-run rally.
Bodhi de Vreede led offf with a single and moved into scoring position via a sacrifice bunt by Terrance Heemskerk.
After next batter Duncan Beljaards was hit by a pitch, a pitching change followed.
Joel Martis took over, but he was greeted with a runscoring single by Daan Terstall, which put Pioniers ahead, 4-3.
Martis followed with a strikeout, but then saw Beljaards score on a passed ball.
Hereafter, Martis walked Michael Dumitrescu and got the bases loaded when he hit Andreas Meijer with a pitch.
Another free pass followed, this time a walk for Max Vonk, which led to the third run in the at bat.
Three runners were left behind, as a grounder ended the inning, but Pioniers now led 6-3.
Quick got one run back in the bottom of the seventh off of new pitcher Daan Kuit.
He hit lead-off hitter Pascal Zegwaard, who then stole second base.
Shortly thereafter, Zegwaard scored on a single by Ibrahin Redan, who ended up on second base via an outfield-error.
But he stranded there, as the next three batters were eliminated.
That also ended the scoring in this game.
Pioniers was retired in order in the eighth and ninth inning by relievers Deef van Leersum and Jasper Popken.
Kuit retired the Quick-side in the eighth, then the home-team got the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth off of closer Nick Loos.
With two outs and Pascal Zegwaard (fielder's choice) at first base, Marvin Jakobus reached on an error and Jurian Hansen walked.
But the game then ended when Loos struckout Kai Berkel.
