Although Quick Amersfoort led from the second inning, it wasn't decided at all that the team would leave the field as winner, as UVV came back in the seventh.
Quick broke an 1-1 tie in the second inning to take a 4-1 lead, but UVV answered with two runs.
The home-team then took some more distance by adding runs in the third and fifth inning.
With a 9-3 lead, UVV narrowed the deficit in the top of the seventh by scoring three runs.
Quick then decided the outcome with a 5-run rally in its seventh at bat.
Quick opened the score in the bottom of the first inning off of rookie Allard Helms, who made his big league-debut.
Initially, Helms was announced as starting pitcher for the third game in last weekend's Opening Series against RCH-Pinguïns on Sunday.
But when the opener of that series rained out on Thursday and was re-scheduled for the next evening, Helms was moved to that game.
However, the game rained out again and was re-scheduled for last Tuesday and Helms would be the starter.
But for the third time, the game was cancelled.
Tonight, the righthander finally made his debut.
With one out in the first inning, Helms walked Joshbert José Ponte Manganiello and then gave up a runscoring double to Pascal Zegwaard.
UVV came alongside in the top of the second inning off of starter Jack Wagner.
He gave up back-to-back doubles to Jorge Luis Espinal Ventura and J'mar Calliste, which gave the team runners on second and third base with no outs.
A grounder by next batter Stefan Kuipers to short followed, which led to an out the plate.
On the grounder, both runners took off and Calliste got into a rundown between second and third base.
When Espinal then tried to score in this situation, he was eliminated at the plate.
In the situation, Calliste advanced to third base and later scored when Etienne van Tielraden reached on an error.
A double play then ended the at bat, which could have been more productive.
Quick immediately answered with two runs in the bottom of the second inning.
Jurian Hansen led off with a triple, then scored when Kai Berkel followed with a homerun.
Initially, Berkel was not on the roster of Quick for this season, but he was added to the Opening Day-roster and played in the first two games against Hoofddorp Pioniers.
Berkel, who is a veteran player last played in the highest league in 2021.
Next batter Lars Visser walked and with one out, the bases got loaded when Amar van Zwieten reached on an error and Joshbert José Ponte Manganiello also walked.
With three runners on base, Allard Helms followed with a strikeout, but then walked Ibrahin Redan, which led to another run.
It also led to a pitching-change, as Aaron Isenia took over.
Still with the bases loaded, the lefthander closed by striking out Marvin Jakobus.
UVV narrowed the deficit to 4-3 by scoring twice in the top of the third.
Jack Wagner walked lead-off hitter Malcolm Marlin, but struckout the next two batters.
Marlin, who had stolen second base, then scored when Quin Cotton homered.
Again, Quick reacted immediately, this by scoring three unearned runs in the bottom of the third.
Lead-off hitter Jurian Hansen reached on an error, moved to third base on an errant pick-off, then scored on a single by Kai Berkel.
After a double play accounted for two outs, Jordy Burger walked and Amar van Zwieten singled.
They went on to score on singles by Joshbert Ponte and Pascal Zegwaard, which increased the lead to 7-3.
Quick added two runs in the bottom of the fifth via a passed ball and a single by Ibrahin Redan.
But with a comfortable 9-3 lead, UVV came back in the top of the seventh inning and scored three runs.
Quick-reliever Riley Gonesh walked lead-off hitter Lucas Bekker, then uncorked two wild pitches and also walked Malcolm Marlin.
Gonesh then struckout the next batter, but a third wild pitch led to a run.
With two outs and first base open, Jorge Espinal was walked intentionally.
Hereafter, Joel Martis took over the pitching, but he was greeted with a 2-run single by J'mar Calliste.
That narrowed the lead to 9-6.
In the bottom of the seventh, Quick struck with a 5-run rally to take a decisive lead.
With one out, Pascal Zegwaard singled and Raoell Kortstam took over the pitching.
Kortstam, who earlier played in the big league for Amsterdam Pirates and HCAW, primarily is an outfielder.
He walked Ibrahin Redan, then gave up a runscoring single to Marvin Jakobus.
After the two runners had advanced on a wild pitch, Jurian Hansen was walked intentionally.
Bu thereafter, runs were scored when Kai Berkel was hit by pitch and on a grounder by Lars Visser.
A single by Irving Redan accounted for two more runs and lifted the lead to 14-6.
In the top of the eighth inning, Deef van Leersum took the mound for Quick.
He gave up a 2-out single by Malcolm Marlin.
A grounder ended the at bat.
Although this was the eighth inning, it was not completed, as the 10:30 PM curfew-time had been reached.
According to that rule, no new inning can be started after that time.
